The psychosocial risk governance gap almost never announces itself.
It surfaces through a complaint. A turnover spike. A regulator inquiry that arrives with very little warning.
By the time it is visible, the operational risk cost is already in motion β disruption, management time, productivity loss, the reputational signal it sends to clients and the workforce.
What is interesting about psychosocial risk governance isn't that organisations get it wrong. It is that most organisations have never had an outside view of whether their governance framework is actually working.
The documentation often exists β a risk management policy, a procedure. What those documents cannot tell you is whether the governance framework is performing in the operation.
What does this tell us about how most organisations are managing psychosocial risk?
They are waiting for something to surface it.
The question is whether that is a risk worth carrying.
