Does the phrase 'The Messy Middle' resonate for you?

I've been noticing a lot of our scaling businesses are finding themselves here.

It looks a bit like this:

↗ Hiring new people before they're ready.
↗ Changing their offerings to create things that are more aligned to their values.
↗ Having the belief that their risk taking will pay off, but still having a little ni**le of doubt.
↗ Feeling that doubt and taking action anyway.
↗ Firing staff members that aren't aligning with the company values and other employees.
↗ Navigating big changes.
↗ Making choices based on what lights us up, rather than how much money it'll make.
↗ Simplifying. Everything.
↗ Having an existential crisis (Is this what I want? How can I make change? What's the next thing? Have my values changed?).

Then coming out the other side, with more success than they could've imagined.

The thing about scaling a business is that it never ends. You make changes that scare the pants off ya. Then things settle. Then we go again.

And that's what we love about our Mastermind Program. We're all in it together.

When you haven't scaled yet, you think that these people who are making multiple 6 and 7 figures have it all figured out. That they don't have low revenue months. That they don't have moments, weeks or months of doubt. That they don't want to quit.

After seeing these faces through a screen for the last few months / years, it was bloody epic to head down to Sydney & Melbourne to meet them IRL as well as meet some new peeps too.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of interviewing - Founder of .k and now her new business - Dream Life.

I organised this for our Mindmasters Members (our scaling biz owners) as I think learning from the lessons, mistakes and successes of others is pivotal to business growth. It reminds us that we're not the only ones facing growing pains and challenges. It sparks new ideas. It inspires & motivates us.

Kristina was such a good sport and an open book, she was more than happy to discuss her experience raising capital as well as the 2 x Voluntary Administrations the business went through, and how that felt personally after building the business from nothing, for over 20 years!

She was incredibly inspiring and it's obvious how much work she's done on her mindset because even though the last 2 years have been stressful , she's still grateful and loving life (which is why she's now created her new startup Dream Life).

A few of my fave takeaways:
- Make sure the people you work with align with your values
- Hire slow, fire fast
- There's no reason you can't build a global business
- Be sure to love what you're doing

And her fave book? The Wealthy Gardener. Which I’m currently reading and enjoying! 👩‍🌾

The most common thing we’re hearing at the moment?

People are feeling anxious.
And overwhelmed.
And sad.
Down.
Over it.

It’s been a heavy start to the year already and we can tell a lot of the founders in our community are struggling.

So we brainstormed some ways we could help. We reached out to one of our fave mindset coaches. And we’re incredibly grateful to bring her to you - to help support you through the turbulent times right now.

Next Wednesday at 11:30am AEST (Syd & Melb - we’re on the same times again next week!!) we’ve got a FREE Masterclass happening.

is going to be spending 20 mins sharing some tips and strategies to help us deal with life when sh*t hits the fan. And she’s then going to spend 40 mins doing some hot seat coaching so she can give really personalised advice.

As we said - this Masterclass is free. We just wanted to give back in a small way to help support any founders that are struggling (which seems to be a lot of us!). If that you - register via the link in our bio and we hope to see you there.

Last week I was feeling uninspired.

Which, for me, is quite unusual to be honest. I love working but it just wasn’t feeling very exciting to me last Monday morning.

So after faffing about for an hour and a half, I packed up my laptop and said to my husband “I’m going to a cafe - you coming?” (He owns a biz too)

Off we went and for a solid 1 hour and 10 mins I got SO much done!

Jake had to get home for a meeting so we left, much to my disappointment.

So I reached out to 2 of our members who have become my close friends and we organised a co-working date together on the Wednesday.

All 3 of us ticked so many things off our lists, we got to hang, we ate yummy food and had delicious cafe coffee.

Being in a different environment and being around people was just… so good.

So here’s my reminder to you - if you’re feeling a bit uninspired. Grab your best biz buds and go work from a cafe! Members - reach out to your local and see if anyone wants to hang! Or do it solo!

We are our own bosses and we do not have to be chained to our desks from 9-5. That’s one of the great perks right?! So go on, book that lil coworking date and get inspired again!

You can still win amongst chaos 🔥

A little while ago we were in a session. I can’t remember what one it was but we asked our members to share a win they’ve had over the past couple of months, while we’ve also been witnessing the global events happening.

And holy wow. We were blown away.

So I madly took screenshots to use this as evidence that you can still win even when s**t is hitting the fan.

✔️ You can be both winning and struggling.

✔️You can hit goals even when there’s things holding you back.

✔️ Sometimes you can have a huge win AND a huge challenge in your biz on the exact same day.

But it’s so easy to forget about the wins. And so much easier to focus on the hard stuff.

I saw this quote the other day (swipe across to the end) and it’s so fricken true. We ALL have a tendency to focus on the losses, mistakes, and lessons.
