Two years before delivering a world-first hypersonic flight capability, High Tor Capital saw a unique value proposition in a critical capability that the rest of the market had yet to grasp.

The London-based venture firm specialises in investing in frontier technologies across Europe and partner nations, including AUKUS.

They see Hypersonix as a "genuinely exceptional and IP-rich" company developing next-generation defence and space access capabilities, especially in the West where they found no genuine competitors.

High Tor has found Hypersonix’s competitive position to be compounding. Demand increased, and our need for expansion has followed. Hypersonix is now taking operational and commercial ex*****on to the US, EU, UK, and allied markets. We’re establishing multi-front engagement, facilities, and bases across these regions, bringing in the right leadership talent to connect with defence, aerospace, and government stakeholders.

Hypersonix Founder and CTO, Dr Michael Smart, is a member of the Independent Advisory Committee (IAC) for "Making Hydrogen Work in Zero Carbon Jet Engines", a five-year, £9.5 million UK Government-sponsored research program.

On 16 September, the research team presented its first year of work to the IAC, consisting of members from Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Boeing, and the European Space Agency, among Hypersonix.

The program is tackling some of the hardest technical challenges in hydrogen propulsion, focusing on how to safely and predictably pressurise, heat, and combust cryogenic hydrogen fuel.

With around 90,000 flights every day, hydrogen propulsion is the answer, offering a credible and sustainable path to reducing emissions. When world-class researchers, industry leaders, and innovators collaborate to make hydrogen-powered flight the new normal; it sets a clear direction for where the future of aerospace is heading.

Hypersonix has taken home the Recognition Award at the 2026 Australian Technologies Competition, reflecting the achievements of previous winners who've shown significant growth since first entering the program!

A $46 million Series A, selection as the first prototype for USA’s DIU hypersonic testing program, our inaugural DART AE flight reaching speeds above Mach 5, and a strong Queensland manufacturing base with a growing team of over 60 talented people. This award symbolises the efforts of our entire team to build sovereign hypersonic capability in Australia.

The Hypersonix team had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Prague Defence Summit, joining political, military and industry leaders from across the transatlantic community.

Discussions at the summit explored the investment and spending priorities shaping today’s defence sector, as well as the military’s evolving role in autonomous space operations – both central areas to the future of defence and aligning with Hypersonix’s work developing hypersonic aerospace technology, and planned growth into the region.

CEO Matt Hill was pleased to meet with the individuals driving these priorities forward and hear that Hypersonix’s involvement is contributing towards real progress being made - not just discussions about policies and partnerships.

We’re proud to be playing a part in that progress, providing sovereign hypersonic capability and supporting the broader push toward a more resilient, connected defence ecosystem.

For QIC, one of Australia’s largest institutional investment managers backed by Queensland Government ownership, Hypersonix’s Defense Innovation Unit contract win and ongoing relationship was a defining signal to the hypersonic test industry. The agreement confirmed that world-class defence primes were recognising the competitive advantage and value of our technology.

As Patrick Christiansen, QIC Principal, describes it “Hypersonix is the perfect marriage of a local technology company that has global ambitions and global validation." QIC has built a track record backing Australia’s most ambitious tech and aerospace ventures, like Gilmour Space and VALD Performance, reinforcing their understanding of the sector and support for Queensland’s position as a global aerospace and defence innovation hub.

During their due diligence on team depth and the credibility of committed capital, QIC uncovered an organisation with the technical rigour to match its ambition. Dr Michael Smart's decades of scramjet engineering research, Matt Hill's experience in building commercial and strategic momentum, and a global team of senior operators including Arthur Sinodinos and James Chiswell, along with more recent hires like Nick Lindsay, showcased our ability to attract world-class talent.

Shortly after our Series A close, our February flight test delivered exactly what QIC's diligence anticipated, turning early conviction into results. Our DART AE achieved sustained hypersonic flight in real atmospheric conditions, demonstrating real flight heritage, materially de-risking the platform, and providing a clear pathway to further mission milestones and technological developments.

QIC's continued backing reflects their long-term commitment to growing sovereign hypersonic capabilities from Queensland and supporting this innovation in reaching global markets. As one of Australia's most disciplined investors, QIC's confidence reflects the direction Hypersonix is headed and the scale of the opportunities ahead.

An honourable moment for Hypersonix as we were selected by The Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley to be one of just 18 dual-use tech scaleups, and the only Australian and non-British invitee, to present at the inaugural Defence & Resilience Tech Scaleup Showcase at Mansion House in London.

Led by Luke Pollard, UK Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, the showcase was designed to spotlight investment opportunities and generate discussions on deployment in UK defence-tech between leading innovators and the audience in the room. It's a clear purpose that aligns closely with what we're building at Hypersonix; a repeatable hypersonic flight capability designed to deter, defend, and deliver for our allies.

CEO Matt Hill presented Hypersonix's sovereign hypersonic capability and dual-use technology development pathway to a consortium of over 250 strategic investors, industry leaders, defence buyers, venture capital firms, and senior members of the Armed Forces, MoD, and NATO.

Our participation reflects our deep ties within the UK government and defence sector, our relationship with The Lady Mayor, and the potential realised by the broader industry. Investment in defence is already experiencing significant growth and is becoming a critical government priority over the next decade - and Hypersonix intends to be at the forefront of this shift.

Hypersonix recently had the pleasure of visiting Gilmour Space Technologies headquarters on the Gold Coast, hosted by Adam Gilmour, Ashley Hasforth, and David Jervis for a tour of their facility and a firsthand look at the incredible developments underway.

During the visit, the team discussed opportunities for future collaboration and shared learnings. This engagement explored accelerating advanced manufacturing and mission readiness, as we work toward a shared objective of building sovereign capabilities that allow Australia to deliver and lead on the world stage.

Last week, Hypersonix joined a select consortium of Queensland companies at the Poland–Queensland Business Roundtable, hosted by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), Polish Australian Chamber of Commerce (PACC), Embassy of Poland in Canberra, and Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ).

CEO Matt Hill represented Hypersonix and met with H.E. Karolina Ćwiek, newly appointed Ambassador of Poland to Australia and Trade Commissioner of Poland to Australia and New Zealand. This invite-only session brought together a dozen businesses to discuss the Polish and Central European market landscape, reflect on trade and investment opportunities with Poland, understand the growth priorities for European regions, and explore next steps for further collaboration between Poland and Queensland organisations.

With RKKVC already invested in Hypersonix, this roundtable marked another step in strengthening our ties with Poland, building on a relationship that continues to grow between our two nations' industries. It’s incredible to see the rising investment and backing from the region, establishing Poland as a key strategic growth factor for many Australian companies.

It was a genuine pleasure to connect with Her Excellency and discuss how partnerships like this can accelerate investment from Poland into Queensland's world-leading advanced manufacturing and sovereign capability sector, and where Hypersonix fits into that opportunity.
