From 1 July 2026, all SIL providers must be NDIS‑registered.

Why this is happening

SIL is 24/7, high‑risk support. The NDIS Commission wants:
Strong governance and risk management
Proper incident and complaints systems
Trained, screened staff
Behaviour support and restrictive practices done correctly
SIL is a major cost to the Scheme, so NDIA wants:
Safe, efficient Rosters of Care
Correct claiming against NDIS Pricing Arrangements
After 1 July 2026, you simply cannot deliver SIL as an unregistered provider.
What SIL providers must have in place
Registration & compliance

Apply for NDIS registration (SIL registration groups).
Pass an external audit against NDIS Practice Standards.
Have incident, complaints, risk, HR, governance and quality systems documented and working.
