🔥 Get Ready Toowoomba!

It was great to spend two days working with 20 members of Toowoomba Region Local Disaster Coordination Centre (LDCC), building skills and putting them to the test through Exercise Kaizen.

With bushfire a key risk heading into the disaster season, the exercise challenged the team with a realistic scenario requiring them to assess emerging risks, coordinate across LDCC functions and draw on their strong local knowledge.

A great effort from everyone involved — and another important step in strengthening local disaster preparedness.

Ready people. Practised systems. Stronger communities.

Delivering on a clean energy future does not come without risks. Queensland Hydro takes their responsibility in mitigating risks seriously.

For the last three years we have witnessed firsthand the commitment to maintaining and improving a robust crisis management capability. Each year the preparedness cycle of reviewing documents, resourcing, training, exercise, and subsequent implementation of improvements is strictly followed.

A recently developed Incident Management System in SharePoint was trialled and the team practiced coordination across teams in multiple locations, with the direct involvement of the CEO for the duration of the exercise.
