When your little one gets sick, sleep usually goes out the window… and parents are left wondering what to do.

Most mums and dads don’t know if they should pause the routine completely or try to keep some structure, and that’s where the stress kicks in.

Just a few weeks ago our 9 month old was waking 10+ times a night - now he sleeps through, thanks to Susie. From our first conversation, she was calm and genuinely invested in helping our family. She created a plan that suited our baby and family, and nothing felt harsh or overwhelming.

Your baby doesn’t need to be trained to sleep. 💤

Sleep is instinctive and absolutely necessary for basic survival. No baby is born without the capacity to sleep; it’s just how well they do it comes down to 3 variables. Hunger (can’t make a hungry baby sleep, hunger wins hands down!) Hormones (can’t make an overtired baby sleep) and the big one - parent interactions! Your interactions and behaviours around your baby’s sleep routine and environment tells them a ‘story’ and they learn from your cues. This determines if they get the opportunity to sleep well and in a true neurological safe state.

“Tummy and timings” are key to biological sleep. A baby needs a full tummy and balanced hormones to sleep “like a baby”. It’s not about building “sleep pressure”, sticking to one set awake window or even a strict routine, sleep is a much simpler experience. It’s just 21 st century society has complicated something that was never meant to be complicated! We have to sleep for basic neurological survival.
