Two Day Auction – The Winter Warmer
The cold weather is rolling in, and so is one of the biggest and most exciting collector’s auctions of the season!
For two massive days, the doors swing open at our new home, the Darra Cementco Bowls Club, for a weekend packed with treasures, stories, nostalgia, and good old-fashioned auction action. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a weekend picker, a decorator, or just someone who loves the thrill of the hunt, there’s something waiting for you under the hammer.
Saturday kicks off with an absolute cracker line-up of antique and collectable bottles, fresh from the collections of well-known collectors Barry Ball of Brisbane and Bernie & Marelene Brown from Newcastle, alongside a huge range of outside vendor entries. Shelf after shelf will be loaded with Aussie milks, crown seals, black glass, codds, ginger beers, chemists, poisons, blob tops, Lamonts, preserving jars, soda syphons, beers and spirits — and one of the finest selections of Brisbane bottles we’ve offered in some time. Every bottle has a story, every crate hides a surprise, and best of all — every lot sells with no reserve.
Then on Sunday morning, the lights dim and the glow begins…
Our increasingly popular Uranium & Glow Glass session returns bigger and brighter than ever. Expect shimmering epergnes, elegant jadeite and opaline pieces, depression-era float bowls, dressing table sets, Art Deco classics, and vintage glass that truly comes alive under UV light. This year also brings something completely new — a beautiful range of vintage glow jewellery, including glowing rings, earrings, necklaces, and other rare wearable treasures.
Collectors will recognise names like Murano, Boyd, Bagley, McKee, Gibson, August Walther & Söhne and more — all represented in what promises to be our best glow glass auction yet.
In between sessions we’ll also roll out a fun mixed estate run featuring tools, artefacts, blokey bits and pieces, and even some quality English porcelain — the kind of auction line-up where you never quite know what’s coming next.
Sunday afternoon finishes the weekend in true Australiana style with a superb pottery and collectables session courtesy once again of Bernie & Marelene Brown and respected Queensland collector Gary Ianna. With pieces spanning multiple eras and states, the sale includes Barsony lamps, Mashman, Workman and Brickworks pottery, Castle Harris, Harvey School, Annie Mitchell, Wemberly Ware, retro Australian classics, and a wonderful selection of EPNS tableware featuring Australian fauna.
As always, we’ll have friendly staff on hand, great food nearby, plenty of seating, and pack-and-post available for suitable items Australia-wide.
So rug up, grab your mates, and join us for a fantastic winter weekend of collecting, bidding, reminiscing, and uncovering treasures at The Winter Warmer. www.nickrowlandauctions.com.au
