Trippin’ With Kids by Peter and Bridget Helliar

I’d had this book on my list for a little while to read and it’s fantastic. However, I think I've read it at a less than ideal time. In the middle of a global pandemic with all international borders, and a lot of domestic borders closed or prone to closing pretty quickly. So, not a lot of travel happening.

As someone who’s travelled here at home and overseas with kids, I’m always looking for tips to make it smoother and as stress free as possible. I will read this book again closer to our next family holiday for some tips, especially for international travel. (Book 9/2021)

Today, I’m sharing a resource that I’ve found really helpful.

It’s by the incredible Brene Brown (whose books I love) and this download is 10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living. It’s from her book, The Gifts of Imperfection.

I downloaded the image, laminated it and put it up in my office and my bedroom as a reminder to me to embrace what’s important.

I know I need to let go of certain things and embrace and cultivate others. Having a reminder like this visual download really helps.

A light and easy read that was perfect for me coming out of Barack Obama’s book.

I like to mix up my fiction and non-fiction books. Diving into an easy read after an intensive book helps me process the heavier book I’ve just read.

The plot is about a young journalist, Justine, who tampers with the magazine’s horoscopes to win her friend’s heart and what it sets in motion.

It’s a similar style of writing to Marian Keyes, who I love, so I really enjoyed this one. Plus, the main character who works as a journalist at a small suburban magazine. Kind of reminded me of my first job as a journalist at a regional daily newspaper. It was nice to reminisce a little.
