New W**e Release: Rosé 2026

In the spirit of Été [summer] - yes it’s coming!

Cold-soaked and gently pressed from 100% estate-grown Merlot, this is Rosé of restraint: pale salmon in the glass, dry and delicate on the palate. Soft florals and bright red berry meet a crisp, elegant finish.

Ten percent barrel fermentation in old French oak lends just the gentlest creaminess, while fine tannins keep everything fresh.

Serve ice cold, amongst amis [mates].

New Release: 2025 Sangiovese & Merlot

Two Broke Fordwich expressions, equal in measure and purpose.

Estate Merlot from the rich red volcanic soils of the Brokenback Range meets Sangiovese from the sandy alluvial banks of the Wollombi Brook.

Matured separately in 500L and 600L French oak, with 20% new oak, this is a medium-bodied red with fine, silky tannins and a palate of dark cherry, ripe plum and a whisper of toffee.

Grown and harvested with care under leading sustainability standards.

Serve lightly chilled, alongside antipasto, pizza or a long table of savoury share plates.

Happy International Pinot Noir Day!

Our 2025 release - bold, riper, Estate grown.

Harvested before sunrise. Cold-soaked for three days. Fermented gently in open tanks, matured in 500L French oak, 20% new.

Dark cherry and forest floor on the nose. Black fruit, earthy depth, firm tannin on the palate.

Pairs well with duck, mushroom risotto, charcuterie.

🍇 JULY IN THE VINEYARD

Winter pruning is underway at Talits Estate.

Our Chardonnay has now been carefully spur-pruned, while hand pruning of the Pinot Noir is also complete. These winter cuts help regulate next season’s growth and lay the groundwork for the 2027 vintage.

Our young Gamay vines are settling into dormancy after holding their leaves unusually late in the season. With the kangaroo fencing now removed, we’ve also tidied the vine guards and prepared these new plantings for a quick winter prune in July.

May’s generous 92mm of rain has left lasting moisture in the soil and brought welcome green back to the Broke Fordwich valley. Although June delivered only around 10mm, the vines currently require no irrigation thanks to low winter evaporation and the moisture still held below the surface.

It has been a warmer-than-average start to winter, with only a few light frosts on the valley floor. The vines may look quiet, but the work behind the next vintage is already well underway.
