What a night at Supply Nation Connect 2026.

This year’s theme, 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, reflects so much of what Connect is about: progress, growth and resilience. For Morrgul, it also provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our own journey and the people who have been part of it.

I’m incredibly proud to share that Morrgul was awarded the 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. Sponsored by bp, this recognised our work and commitment to building a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable Indigenous business sector. It’s important to recognise the significant contributions of Little Wombats Program and BilaEmpower, our fellow finalists.
As part of this award, we were honoured to be gifted an artwork created by Cheryl Martin, a respected Whadjuk and Pindjarup cultural leader and artist. We feel incredibly grateful to receive this, a meaningful representation that was created at this event on Whadjuk country.

For more than 13 years, Morrgul has been on a journey with one clear purpose: helping our clients build successful, sustainable businesses and create lasting economic impact.
That journey started in Broome, proudly remote, and it continues to shape who we are today. Being based in remote WA has never been a barrier to our ambition. It has given us a deep understanding of the opportunities, challenges and realities faced by the businesses and communities we work alongside.
Today, we work across the state and will continue to grow our own capacity to support more Aboriginal businesses and Community-Controlled Organisations in regional and remote WA.

After years of planning and community consultation, Kimberley Arts Network (KAN) is officially launching its new Ceramics Studio at the KAN Shed on Orr Street on Saturday 15 August 2026.

This new studio provides a dedicated space where residents, emerging artists and experienced makers can develop their skills, connect with others and explore ceramics.
Recognising strong demand for a community-owned ceramics studio, KAN's Clancy McDowell has driven the project to create a space where local people and accomplished artists can build their skills.
“𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑖𝑠 𝑒𝑥𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑐𝑠 𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑒; 𝑖𝑡’𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑤𝑒 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟”, Clancy said. “𝐼𝑡’𝑠 𝑓𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑖𝑜 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦.”

The team at KAN recently delivered its first ceramics workshops, with 20 Broome residents signing up to take part. Three local ceramics trainers guided participants through rolling, shaping and refining clay projects, before the finished pieces were fired in the newly installed kiln.

Clancy said many people and organisations have been on the journey with KAN to get the Ceramics Studio off the ground.

Local arts trainer Isla Burnie said the new kiln and ceramics studio fills a gap for the community by providing a welcoming creative space led by skilled local ceramicists.

Through a partnership with Shell Australia, Morrgul provides free grants support to groups like KAN. Working alongside Clancy and her team, Morrgul helped secure two successful grants worth over $80,000 to support this and other projects.

💰 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 $𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼 $𝟱𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲
The amount depends on how many Horizon Power service areas your initiative covers.

📅 Applications close: midnight, Friday 14 August
👥 Who can apply?
• Not-for-profit organisations
• Local governments
• Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations
• Prescribed Body Corporates

✅ What they're looking for
Your initiative needs to align with a Horizon Power guiding principle:
• Community involvement
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander commitment
• Cleaner and greener
• Regions first
And fit at least one focus area:
• Better community spaces
• Better everyday decision making
• Staying connected, safe and prepared during extreme weather/emergencies
• Stronger pathways for youth and communities

📌 What can be funded?
Events, equipment, fit-outs or short-term initiatives supporting community health and wellbeing (must be time-limited, not ongoing operational costs).

As we wrapped up another financial year, the Morrgul team took some time during our weekly team meeting to reflect on the year that was, celebrating our achievements, sharing feedback, recognising what we are proud of, and identifying opportunities to continue improving and growing together.
We wanted to share a small snapshot of what this year has looked like for Morrgul…

Throughout the past financial year, Morrgul has proudly supported 𝟯𝟱𝟬+ 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮.
Behind this number are hundreds of stories, ideas, challenges and opportunities. We have supported people taking their first steps towards starting a business, existing businesses looking to grow and expand, and organisations seeking guidance to strengthen their operations.

Some of our key milestones and achievements this year include:
✨ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲
We opened our Perth office to strengthen our support for businesses and organisations across the southern regions of Western Australia, while creating greater opportunities to connect with clients, stakeholders and partners.

✨ 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗪 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
We established a Morrgul subsidiary providing reliable, fee-for-service bookkeeping support tailored specifically to Aboriginal businesses and corporations, helping strengthen financial capability and business sustainability.

✨ 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 $𝟯.𝟲+ 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴
Through our various programs and support services, we assisted organisations and businesses across remote WA to access more than $3.6 million in grant funding, supporting community-led initiatives, growth opportunities and economic development.

One of the things we are most proud of is the reach of our work. The businesses and organisations we support are located across the diverse regions of remote and regional Western Australia, and we are incredibly proud to continue supporting Aboriginal businesses throughout the state.

A huge thank you to every business, organisation and community that has trusted Morrgul and allowed us to be part of your journey.

We also want to acknowledge our stakeholders, partners and broader support network who make this work possible. Strong collaboration is what allows us to continue creating opportunities and supporting Aboriginal businesses to thrive.
