What a way to spend an evening! πŸŒ…πŸ₯‚

This week I got to check out Sully's Rooftop at the brand new Avani Mooloolaba Beach hotel - and wow, what a view! Mooloolaba turned it on, as always. 😍

Fun fact: it's the first new hotel to open on the Sunshine Coast in more than 35 years - and it was such a treat to experience it firsthand alongside the Visit Sunshine Coast community and so many wonderful faces from our local tourism industry.

Great conversations, great company, and a sneaky sunset over the coast from the hottest new rooftop around. We even heard from Kpat Hotels Managing Director Kenneth Wagner, Coast Council CEO John Baker, and Visit Sunshine Coast's Matt Stoeckel - the energy and ambition in our tourism sector right now is something special. ✨

If you haven't been up to Sully's yet, put it on your list. Trust me. 🍹

Here's to big things ahead for Sunshine Coast tourism! πŸ™Œ

GRANT ALERT: Tourism Icons Infrastructure Fund (TIIF) Round 2 is coming! 🌴

Premier Crisafulli confirmed this week that the next round of the Tourism Icons Investment Fund will open "later this year" - and with around $54.5 million still in the fund, there's serious money on the table for Queensland's next tourism icons. πŸ’°

Here's what we know about the fund:
βœ… Up to $5 MILLION per project
βœ… 1:1 matched funding
βœ… Focus areas: Ecotourism, Dark Sky Tourism, Agritourism, Coastal/Marine, Cultural/Heritage & Paleo

⏱️ And here's the catch - Round 1 moved FAST. The fund opened 10 September, EOIs were due just four weeks later on 8 October, and Full Business Cases by 8 December. If Round 2 mirrors that timing, your preparation window is NOW.

Thank you Mia and Ollie's Echo: Pathways to Prevention Ltd - our team loves being in your corner and supporting all of your innovative programs with grants. Here's to more education and making a difference for our young people.

Thank you to Successful Grants and in particular Jenny Lawson and her wonderful team, for the support they have been providing Ollie's Echo: Pathways to Prevention Ltd with our grant submissions.

As a small, volunteer-led charity working hard to create meaningful change in prevention, early intervention and awareness, having people around us who understand the grant landscape and who take the time to understand our story, our purpose and our impact makes such a difference.

Grant writing is not just about filling in forms. It is about clearly communicating why this work matters, who it will reach, and the change it can help create in communities. Jenny and her team have helped us shape that story with care, clarity and professionalism.

We are so grateful for their guidance, patience and belief in the work of Ollie’s Echo as we continue building pathways to prevention for young people, families, schools and communities.

Thank you, Jenny and the Successful Grants team, we are very lucky to have you in our corner.

⚠️ DATE UPDATE - the opening and closing dates for this program have changed since our last post.

GAME ON: Teaming Up for Climate Action (Round 1)
There are about 70,000 community sports clubs across Australia. Only 500 will secure funding in this round - and the dates have just shifted, so if you saved our earlier post, please take note.

The Federal Government's Game On - Teaming Up for Climate Action is an open (non-competitive) program offering $25,000 to $100,000 per club for energy efficiency, electrification and climate resilience upgrades to sporting facilities.
The portal now opens on 1 July 2026 - and applications close on 28 July 2026, OR EARLIER if funding capacity is reached. This is still a race to readiness, not just a race to the deadline.

Who is eligible?
-Not-for-profit community sports clubs that are incorporated
-Must have an ABN and be affiliated with your recognised SSO or NSO
-Consortium arrangements are also supported
-Schools in outer regional, remote or very remote areas (with community facility access) may also apply

What can funding be used for?
Solar, battery storage, LED lighting, energy-efficient equipment and building upgrades
Climate resilience works - water management, resilient infrastructure, sustainable transport
Related communication and education activities

Co-contribution is encouraged but not mandatory. Projects must commence by December 2026 and be completed by April 2028.
We are already working with clients on eligibility assessment and application preparation. If your club - or a club you support - wants to be in the 500, now is the time to move.

Feel free to contact us directly, or visit our website to book a scoping session.

🚨 GRANT ALERT - $142 million available for disaster resilience
Round 4 of the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) is now open.

If your organisation works in natural disaster risk reduction, community preparedness, or resilience infrastructure - this one's for you.

What's funded: projects targeting flood, cyclone, bushfire, storm surge, heatwave, landslide, earthquake, tsunami and more - across built, social, natural and economic domains.
Infrastructure is a clear priority this round, with flood levees, sea walls and drainage basins specifically called out.

The numbers:
-Up to $142.4m available nationally
-Minimum $500k for infrastructure projects
-Co-contribution from 10% (First Nations orgs, remote councils) to 50%
-Applications close 1 July 2026
-3-year project term, commencing mid-2027

To give you a sense of the benchmark, Queensland Round 3 infrastructure grants included the Kowanyama Community Hub ($8.203m), the Burketown emergency evacuation centre ($414k), the Cedric Davies Community Hub in Mareeba ($242k), and flood resilience projects in Gladstone, Cloncurry and Benourie.
Common threads: enduring community benefit, hazard-specific design, and strong First Nations or remote community focus.

Not sure if your project is competitive? Contact us for a Grant Consult - we'll give you an honest picture of your chances before you commit resources.

The Federal Government's Game On program is offering $25,000 to $100,000 per club for solar, battery storage, LED lighting, climate resilience upgrades and more - and it's open (non-competitive), so every eligible club has a shot.

The catch? The portal opens 11 June 2026 and closes 8 July 2026 - OR EARLIER if the funding cap is hit first. This is genuinely a race to readiness.

Is your club eligible?
βœ… Not-for-profit, incorporated sporting club

βœ… Schools in remote/outer regional areas with community facility access may also apply
Co-contribution is encouraged but not mandatory. Projects complete by March 2028.

We're already helping clubs get assessment-ready. Feel free to contact me directly or visit www.successfulgrants.com.au to book a scoping session.

How excellent is this photo by Paddle Life TV at the AOCRA National Outrigger Championships in Coffs Harbour on the weekend?

Jenny Lawson from Successful Grants was steering one of the canoes in the photo in these challenging conditions, getting safely out of the harbour for a 10k race.

This is what weekends are for.
