Fostering Safety would like to present a business case for psychosocial scanning for workplace health and safety applications.
I (Kirsten Borgas) have never done anything like this. I never thought I would find a concept (used for many years by Practitioners) and make the connection to WHS. I never thought I would be studying advanced neuroanatomy and neuroscience. We are hoping to integrate these scanning and neuroscience concepts into businesses.
My motivation behind bringing this technology to business and communities is to better understand psychosocial risks in the workplace and adaptability to stress. I know from my own mining experience (Operator) that how businesses manage psychosocial risks is new and sometimes administration control based. My fear is that with over saturation of information regarding mental health that we will "turn off" or make Workers complacent to psychosocial risks. Similarly, currently when we assess mental health we are using subjective assessment tools. By producing a report and data sets that visually show adaptability to stress, postural energy and thermal balance; not only can Employers objectively assess Workers and make changes, but Workers can actively see and work towards improving their overall health and wellbeing.
With the report, and under the guidance of Practitioners, Workers and Employers would be given different resources to improve scores and targeted care planning. This would also include the support of the Melillo Method (advanced neuroanatomy and neuroscience) which assesses retained primitive reflexes, and integrates hemispheric connectivity (vertically and horizontally) to improve whole body functioning.
This is in the hope that we can provide and prove functional psychosocially safe workplaces.
