GenSELECT Profile gives producers a snapshot of the genetic benchmark of their female herd. It delivers an average set of genomic breeding values (GBVs), comparable to the Hereford BREEDPLAN database.

It is as simple as testing 30 females in your herd. The test provides insights across 11 key productivity traits and one index.

Use GenSELECT Profile results to help guide more accurate bull selection and support long-term breeding objectives and herd planning.

Offered in partnership with Herefords Australia. Powered by BREEDPLAN in collaboration with ABRI.

Good energy and strong discussion at this week's Sheep Genetics Service Provider workshop.

Greg and Mel from our Sheep Genomics team spent the day with industry peers exploring what’s next for sheep genetics.

Here’s what stood out:
📊 Insight into MLA’s direction, including progress on multibreed analysis and updates on the combined LAMBPLAN rollout
🐑 Future integration of Dohne/SAMM analysis with MERINOSELECT by 2027
🔗 Early thinking around developing a genetic credential that tracks animals through the supply chain
📈 Valuable conversations on decision tools within Smart Flock Select
🧬 Highlights and outcomes from the MLP project
📉 Updates to Worm Egg Count submission thresholds
⚡ Strong excitement around the upcoming ImmuneDEX release

👉 The common thread: more connected data, more practical decision tools, and stronger links between genetics and real-world, on-farm production systems.

A productive session with plenty of forward-looking discussion across the industry.

Speak with Mel or Greg if you would like to chat more about any of these updates further.

If you have lambs in the yard, now is the time to collect DNA samples. Lambing and marking is the best time. Collection is quick, easy and fits into your normal routine.

Waiting too long could mean missing key insights or delaying decisions about your flock.

Plan your genomic testing now and make sure TSU kits are ready. Testing helps you select the right ewes, confirm sires, and track traits important to your breeding goals.

Not sure what to do first? Give Greg a call or text on 0486 350 068. We can guide you before lambing kicks off.

DNA Sampling Tip with Allflex TSUs:

Make sure your TSU sample is fully submerged in the buffer. If it’s sitting too high in the tube, a gentle tap on the table should settle it into place.

A good seal on your TSUs is also crucial to prevent leaks that could dilute the buffer or compromise the sample. This ensures the sample is preserved properly and prevents the need to redo the sampling, which could delay processing times.

You can order Allflex TSU equipment directly from Neogen. We maintain stock of TSUs, applicators, and racks, with orders usually dispatched within a day.
