On Friday, NORTH Link together with Councils Alliance (NCA), launched Melbourne’s North Investment Attraction Strategy on behalf of the Northern Metropolitan Partnership.

Nathan Lambert MP, Member for Preston; Carl Cowie CEO of Nillumbik Shire Council and Chair of NCA Working Group; and Chris James, Executive Director NORTH Link addressed a group of over 60 attendees from various businesses, Victorian Government departments and local Councils, many of whom had been involved with the development of the Strategy through a series of workshops conducted over the last 12 months.

The strategy identifies key sectors in Melbourne’s north, leveraging its competitive advantage, including food, beverage, and advanced manufacturing; education and training; health and wellbeing; professional digital services; transport, freight, and logistics; and the visitor economy. The overarching goal is to attract investments and nurture industries poised for growth in these strategic areas.

People with disabilities are NOT a minority group:

-An estimated 46% of older people aged 60 years and over are people with disabilities.
-One in every five women is likely to experience a disability in her life, while one in every ten children is a child with a disability and yet, many still face preventable barriers in everyday life.

NORTH Link is committed to working with its partners to make the world better and fairer for people with disability. Our 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 is collaborating with manufacturers and health providers across Melbourne’s north to help them work together to produce and modify assistive products and technologies. The resulting learning modules, supported by the Victorian Government, will help pave the way for designing and producing new and better tools and equipment to improve the lives of those living with disability.

NORTH Link, in collaboration with the Victorian Government, hosted the 2023 Victorian Manufacturing Showcase on Tuesday, 21 November 2023 at the Moonee Valley Racing Club.

With generous support from our sponsors, VMS2023 highlighted the opportunities and challenges for Victoria's manufacturing sector. We had 84 exhibitors and attracted roughly 1,000 participants, fostering connections and exchanging knowledge on the latest locally developed manufacturing advancements.

The Minister for Jobs and Industry, Minister for Treaty and First Peoples and Minister for Women - The Hon. Natalie Hutchins MP, distinguished speakers, and a panel of industry leaders shared inspiring insights.

The event concluded with well-attended and enlightening workshops.
