Over the next few weeks I will be sharing recipes I am testing for my little boys breakfast and lunch box. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

Ayuverdic Quinoa Porridge ๐Ÿฅฃ

No need to add to an already busy school morning. This porridge can be cooked in the slow cooker while you sleep. Wake up to an aromatic house and a delicious breakfast for the family ready to go!

Grab a power point timer from and set it to turn on during the night.

This recipe was shared by a lovely friend. My boys have adored eating this porridge ever since. Usually made with brown rice, I adapted it to quinoa as thatโ€™s what was in the cupboard.

AYUVERDIC PORRIDGE ๐Ÿฅฃ
๐Ÿš 2 cups of brown rice or quinoa
๐Ÿ’ฆ 12 cups water if using rice. 6 cups of using quinoa
๐Ÿฏ 1 cup honey
๐Ÿงˆ 1/2 cup of butter or ghee
๐Ÿฅ„ 2 teaspoons ground or minced ginger
๐Ÿฅ„ 1 small k**b of fresh turmeric or 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
๐Ÿฅ„ 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon or 2 cinnamon sticks
๐Ÿฅ„ 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
๐Ÿฅ„ 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
๐Ÿฅฅ 3/4 cup shredded coconut
๐Ÿ˜‹ 3/4 cup currants
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Place all ingredients in the slow cooker, except coconut and currants. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Add coconut and currants in the last hour.

I have topped mine with greek yoghurt, sunflower seeds and (best honey in the world!) with a ๐Ÿ“
