You don’t need better “sales”...
You need a simple system that builds so much trust and value that selling is almost unnecessary.
This week’s Monday Thoughts is about the No-Sale Sign Up, and how to make joining feel easy (for both you and them).

Most gyms’ OnBoarding is holding them back, big time.

Not because they’re bad coaches…
but because they approach it like a coaching problem instead of an experience problem.

They try to teach movements.
Fix mobility.
Correct habits.
Explain everything.

All good things.

Just not the purpose of OnBoarding.

The real job of OnBoarding is much simpler.

When someone walks into your gym for the first time, they’re not wondering about bar path or hip extension.

They’re wondering:
“Can I actually do this?”
“Is this the right place for me?”

A great OnBoarding program answers these questions with The Three C’s.

First, you make them Comfortable.

Comfortable in the space.
Comfortable in their abilities.

That means meeting them at the door, introducing them to members, choosing simple movements, and celebrating the small wins. Turning a big intimidating gym into a place they feel they belong.

Next, you make them Coachable.

Coachable in the movements.
Coachable in the class.

They understand how a class works.
Where to stand.
When to listen.
How to move safely.

Not perfect technique. Just the basics done safely so their spine doesn’t slide out their arse mid-deadlift.

And finally, you make them Convertible.

Because what’s the damn point of getting them here if we can’t turn them into a member?

They feel supported.
They feel part of something.
They see the value.

Not because you showed them what YOU do, but because you showed them what THEY can do.

At that point, joining isn’t a sales decision.
It’s just the obvious next step.

A little mantra I give coaches when they start overthinking OnBoarding:
Conversions first. Competency later.

Because we’re still coaches, and we’ll absolutely build incredible competency over time.

But if they never join…
we never get the chance to change their life or grow our business.

So whether you run small group, one-on-one, or No Sweat OnBoarding, build every minute of it around making them…

Comfortable.
Coachable.
Convertible.

Once you’ve got them saying “Holy Sh*t, I can do this!”…

You’ll sign more members.
And you’ll keep them longer.

Know that your OnBoarding needs an upgrade?

❤️‍🔥Gym P**n is Back!
And we’re kicking it off properly, with Lift HQ Timaru, in New Zealand 🇳🇿

👉 Quick note: check the fly-through video… it’s worth it.

This place is a masterclass in simple, elegant, professional branding.
Dark greys balanced with light timber.
Greenery softening the edges.

No gimmicks.
No expensive, shiny distractions.
Just a clean, considered space where everything feels intentional.

It’s premium without being pretentious.
Welcoming without being soft.
And the quality of the facility matches the quality of the coaching.

Big shout-out to Darren and the team for building something genuinely special!

An incredible space for their members to train, grow, and actually enjoy turning up to.

This is what happens when you design with purpose.
Simple done well always wins.

Check it out and give the LiftHQ team a shout out in the comments 👇

There’s a lot of gym business bu****it thrown around in our industry…

Some of it comes from insecurity and ego.
Some of it comes from “gurus” chasing a buck.
But all of it is holding you back.

If you’ve accepted any of these as fact, give yourself a slap and shake it off.

And I’d love to know, what do you think is the biggest gym business lie right now?

😥 “Tye, How Do I Get More Leads?”
For the last 13 years it’s been the number one question I get.
It's the magic pill to solve all of your gyms problems…

Membership’s low?
More leads.

Can’t pay rent?
More leads.

Profit’s thin. Coaches leaving. Members dropping off.
More. Leads.

And look, I get it. That question feels logical. It feels productive. It feels like doing something.

But here’s a wiser, more useful question I wish more owners would ask:

Why the hell do I need so many leads in the first place?

Because most gyms don’t have a lead problem.
They have a leaky bucket problem.

People get poured in…
And then quietly drip out.

Leads don't get followed up.
Intro's don't convert into sign ups.
Members fall through the cracks and cancel.

So the solution becomes: pour more water in.
More ads. More promos. More effort. More stress.

What if instead, we slowed down for a second and plugged the holes?

What if we converted leads faster?
What if retention was just 10% better?
What if you didn’t need 10 new members a month… but four?

All of a sudden:
• You don’t need 50+ leads
• You don’t need an agency or ads budget
• You don’t need to learn how to become a marketing guru

You can grow every month off referrals.
Reactivations.
Reputation.
The feel-good stuff you probably started this for in the first place.

So before you chase more leads…
Before you throw more money into the leaky bucket…

Pause and ask yourself:

Why the hell do we need so many leads?
And what would change if we fixed the leaks first?

Do the boring work now.
Make owning and growing your gym easier, less stressful and a hell of a lot more enjoyable.
For you. For your family. For your team.

And if you don’t know where to start DM or comment “MORE” and I’ll send you the 30 min Keep Members Longer workshop, filmed live at Eleiko HQ 👇

🙀 I Was A Big Scaredy-Cat...
As gym owners, we're so comfortable in our space that we forget how bloody scary it can be for new members - even experienced ones.

Ignore this part of their journey and you'll scare off those who need you most.

But if you show real professional empathy and build your new member journey around how they feel, you'll change more lives and make more money.

Don't just say you care. Prove it.

Owning a succesful gym isn’t all big vibes, fun classes and community events...

Your growth is directly proportional to your willingness to master the boring work.

💭 So here are a few of my Monday thoughts on the boring s**t that actually grows your gym…

P.S. If you need help getting the boring 💩 done in your gym, comment or DM “GROW” and I’ll give you the shortcuts 👇

Just 48 hours ago my guy Adam was pretty bloody nervous about announcing his Price Rise...

Are we really worth it?
Should we have added more services?
Do we need more fancy equipment?
What will the OG members say?

All totally normal fears that race through a gym owner's head before a price rise.

I quickly reminded him that:
- Value comes from the quality of service, not the quantity.
- To focus on what members come for, pay for, and stay for.
- He already has a simple, proven system. Just follow the steps.
- And ultimately, he had no choice. The business needed to cover rising costs.

So he pulled on his big boy pants, announced the price rise and within the first 24hrs received these messages from members

This is what happens when you have a simple, proven system to follow.

We call it The New Fearless Price Rise.

I asked Adam if I could share these messages for two reasons:

1. To give him the credit he deserves and hopefully inspire you to do the same.

2. To remind you that all those fears and negative self-talk are made up bu****it, getting in the way of uncomfortable growth.

If you know you're due - or overdue - for a price rise, consider this your message and motivation to put your fears aside and do what needs to be done, the right way.

And to remove any excuses, I’m giving you the full New Fearless Price Rise system.

The 60 min workshop, the step-by-step system, and even the custom tool that builds your price rise announcement in minutes.

You can watch it now at the link in the comments 👇

Now go start charging what you're really worth.
