This throwback photo from one of our Southpac Aerospace team members takes us back to the early 2000s, during his time flying Hajj operations on behalf of Saudi Arabian Airlines.

Based in Jeddah, he travelled the world supporting pilgrims on their journey to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage – a role that brought plenty of adventure, new destinations, and unforgettable experiences.

Beyond the flights and destinations, the highlight of this chapter of his career was the people – working alongside amazing colleagues, learning from different cultures, and collecting stories from every corner of the world.

This was also part of his 13-year journey with Air Atlanta Icelandic, where he built his aviation experience and forged a lifelong passion for the industry.

We are excited to welcome Ian Dix as our new Aviation and Training Specialist.

Ian brings over 25 years of global aviation safety experience to Southpac, spanning civil, commercial, military, and regulatory environments across Australia, the UAE, UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

At Southpac, Ian consults, and facilitates training in compliance management, quality and safety management systems, and human factors for civil and defence personnel.

Rob Russell took them through our 5-day Aviation SMS course, combining theory, case studies, and practical activities designed to develop a clear understanding of how SMS is implemented and maintained.

Our incredible facilitator, David Munns, has reached a decade with Southpac, commencing as our Safety & Lead Auditor trainer in 2016.

To say David has had a significant impact on the standard of aviation auditing across the Asia Pacific is an understatement. This extraordinary human takes auditor training to another level. With his unique blend of patience, experience, professionalism, and all-around awesomeness, Dave has shaped the auditing skills of thousands of professionals from the aviation industry and beyond who have completed their training with Southpac. On average, he delivers over 35 courses per year, including our publicly scheduled courses and private in-house courses for our major clients. Rarely a course goes by without the office receiving an email, message or call from a student who has been helped or impressed by Dave's teaching style.

We couldn't be more proud to see him reach this milestone, and still take each new cohort through this course with the same passion he began with in 2016.
