WEBINAR — BVLOS in Practice: What's Working, What's Challenging and What Comes Next
Hover UAV CRP Professional Development Webinar Series

Drone-in-a-box has moved well past proof-of-concept. Broad Area BVLOS has been live for a year, emergency service exemptions are active, and more operators are standing up BVLOS capability every month.

Join us as we ask the experts how it's really going. We've brought together three operators flying BVLOS across utilities, law enforcement and beyond: NSW Police Force, Hover UAV, Endeavour Energy (NSW) and The Vertical Co | Industrial.

Each will walk through their program: how they're using BVLOS, the environments they operate in, and where their capability is headed. Hover UAV COO Phillip Grieve will then lead a practical discussion on what's working, what isn't, and the lessons being learnt — operational oversight, Responsible Person requirements, comms, geofencing, stakeholder engagement, supporting tech and record keeping.

This one's for Chief Remote Pilots, Responsible Persons, operational managers, remote pilots and crewed aviation operators sharing airspace with BVLOS operations — whether you're already flying BVLOS or still weighing it up.

Magnificent day in Bondi today! ☀️🌊

It’s amazing what you can see from a completely different perspective when you put the DJI Matrice 4 Enterprise in the air.

The level of detail from the camera system is seriously impressive. Being able to capture the wider picture and then zoom in to inspect specific areas in incredible detail really demonstrates how far drone technology has come.

Great technology, an iconic location and a pretty impressive office for the day! 🚁🌊

Congratulations to KiwiRail on this major milestone. KiwiRail has been granted a Part 102 Unmanned Aircraft Operator Certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of NZ.
This opens the door to more advanced drone operations, including beyond visual line of sight and night flights, all under a rigorous, Civil Aviation Authority of NZ-approved safety framework. It's a fantastic step forward for keeping your people safer and your network smarter, from infrastructure inspections to emergency response.
Huge credit to the Digital Engineering team and the Drone Centre of Excellence for the dedication and collaboration that made this happen. Proud to support KiwiRail as you kick off this next chapter for drones on the rail network. Well done to the whole team!

A major milestone for KiwiRail: we have been granted a Part 102 Unmanned Aircraft Operator Certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority. That means we can expand how we use drones to inspect, monitor, and maintain our national rail network.

We’ll be able to do more advanced operations, including beyond visual line of sight flights and night operations, all under a rigorous, CAA-approved safety framework.

For our people, that means safer access to potentially hazardous or hard-to-reach places. It also means richer, faster data to support smarter planning and better decisions, across infrastructure inspections, engineering surveys, construction monitoring, and emergency responses.

This milestone represents the dedication, commitment and collective effort of KiwiRail’s Digital Engineering team and the Drone Centre of Excellence in establishing a safe, compliant, and nationally recognised drone capability. The Drone Centre of Excellence serves as KiwiRail’s hub for drone expertise, bringing together specialists to share knowledge, collaborate, and standardise drone operations across the business.

Part 102 is the start of the next chapter on what drones can do to support a safer, smarter, and more efficient railway network.

Northern Rivers drone operators. Important airspace changes come into effect tomorrow.
From tomorrow, changes around Ballina Byron Gateway Airport will affect drone operations in the area, including the introduction of controlled airspace requirements.
Drone operators should make sure they:
✅ Check the updated airspace before flying
✅ Understand the new requirements around Ballina Byron Gateway Airport
✅ Confirm whether approvals or clearances are required
✅ Update internal procedures, maps and flight planning tools
✅ Brief pilots and operational teams before any flights in the area
These changes are important for anyone operating drones across the Northern Rivers, particularly near Ballina, Lennox Head, Byron Bay and surrounding areas. https://lnkd.in/gSw4-8GZ
Please review your planned operations and ensure you are flying safely and compliantly.
Know the airspace. Check the rules. Fly safe.

🚨 Sydney Basin Airspace Changes Start Tomorrow 🚨
From 9 July 2026, major airspace changes come into effect across the Sydney Basin as part of the integration of Western Sydney International Airport.
These changes will impact drone operators, ReOC holders and Remote Pilots operating around Western Sydney International Airport, Bankstown, Camden, Richmond, Sydney Harbour and surrounding areas.
Do not rely on old airspace assumptions.
Before flying, check updated airspace information, Civil Aviation Safety Authority - CASA -verified drone safety apps, planning systems, risk assessments and any CASA approvals.

Flying drones in the Sydney Basin? This one matters.
From 9 July 2026, Sydney’s airspace will change significantly with the introduction of Western Sydney International Airport and updated airspace across Sydney, Bankstown, Camden, Richmond and Sydney Harbour.
For drone operators, this is not just an aviation update. It may affect your flight planning, Civil Aviation Safety Authority approvals, operating areas, height limits, procedures and existing assumptions.
If you operate drones anywhere across the Sydney Basin, now is the time to review what is changing and understand how it may impact your operations.
We have broken down the key points for drone operators in our latest blog.

What a fantastic initiative for the community.
The Surfers Rescue 24/7 program, developed by Surfing NSW with support from Primary Industries and Regional Development, is a great example of using drone technology in a positive and practical way to support coastal awareness, water safety and safer outcomes on our beaches and within board riding communities.
Hover UAV is proud to have played a small part in supporting the training and safe use of this technology, helping ensure the program is built on responsible and compliant foundations.
A big congratulations to everyone involved. A great step forward for beach safety
