A week on the road 🚐⚖️

Travelling through Bunbury, Busselton and Dunsborough last week (resisted the urge to stop in at Tazz’s for a pie!) we weighed everything from a mean-looking Toyota Hilux preparing for a new caravan, through to some seriously neat touring rigs.

A few needed a little culling… and a couple were spot on and compliant. 👌

One of the best things you can do before purchasing the matching car and caravan combination is weigh the tow vehicle first.

Understanding your tow rig’s GVM, GCM, available payload and towing capacity gives you the information you need to make an informed decision about what caravan you can safely and legally tow.

It’s a lot better to know the numbers before you buy the dream van, rather than discovering afterwards that your combination doesn’t stack up.

Measure first. Buy with knowledge. Travel with confidence.

Measure once, order twice… apparently🤦‍♂️

I asked the Chief Finance Officer to put on the Head of Marketing hat and order replacement A-frame inserts.

She absolutely nailed the design.

She may have missed the measuring part.

So instead of replacement inserts, we now have $300 worth of giant billboard-sized signs 😂

At this point I’m considering using them as:
✅ A temporary fence
👍🏽 A carport wall
✅ A sail for the caravan
👍🏽 A dining table
✅ Or just parking one on the roof so everyone in the SW knows where to get their caravan weighed

On the bright side, if you can’t find SW Weigh now, that’s probably on you. 😅

A couple of recent weighs from Bunbury

One was fully compliant ✅ One was overweight ⚠️

As most of you know, I don’t weigh and tell, so I’ll let you guess which is which!

The important part is that both owners now have the knowledge they need — where the weight is sitting, what can be removed, and what can be moved to get things safer and more compliant on the road.

That’s what mobile weighing is really about: peace of mind, safer towing, and avoiding surprises when you’re travelling.

This week we covered the A–D of the South West… 🚐

Australind ✔️
Bunbury ✔️
Busselton ✔️
Capel ✔️
Collie ✔️
Dunsborough ✔️
(And a stop in Margaret River too… we’ll let that one sneak in despite not fitting the A–D theme! 😉)

One thing that stood out this week was the results. Around 80% of the vehicles we weighed were compliant, with only 20% needing adjustments. For those, we were able to make changes on the spot or put together a plan to get them compliant and, most importantly, travelling safely.

The biggest setup of the week? A RAM 3500 towing a fully loaded caravan, complete with a roof-top tinny. A serious touring rig, and great to see it all weighing in compliant and within limits. 💪

Looking forward to a quieter (and hopefully warmer!) weekend before we’re back on the road Monday, helping more travellers head off with confidence.

Now that’s a serious towing setup. 👌🛥️

We recently weighed this Ford Super Duty towing a large cat on a tri-axle trailer, and the results were impressive.

The Super Duty is one of the best-balanced tow vehicles we’ve seen, and it’s easy to understand why owners rate them so highly for heavy towing. The entire combination weighed up nicely and was well matched. ✅⭐️

One thing we see regularly is that appearances can be deceiving when it comes to weights. Some setups that look perfect can be overloaded, while others that seem questionable can be well within limits.

Back from up north and honestly… not sure why we had to leave 😅
Beautiful South West weather, beach views and a stop Dusty Buns for one of their famous Cronuts (this one’s Turkish Delight) has softened the blow though 🍩☀️
