The Global Green Growth Institute - GGGI is seeking a highly skilled international expert to support the Government of Vanuatu in the full operationalization of the new Vanuatu National Climate Loss & Damage Fund. Based within the Ministry of Climate Change Vanuatu in Port Vila, this role is at the forefront of global climate diplomacy and finance innovation. You will translate international L&D policy developmentsโ€”including work under the Paris Agreement and the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage into practical national actions. Your work will directly impact Vanuatuโ€™s ability to mobilize sustainable finance, develop innovative disbursement modalities, and support communities most vulnerable to climate impacts.

In this role, you will:

- Provide high-level technical advice on climate change and L&D negotiation strategies.

- Lead the development of the Fund Capitalization Strategy and mobilize sustainable finance.

- Build capacity within government agencies and stakeholders on climate diplomacy.

- Support the development of innovative financing mechanisms, including national levies for the airline, shipping, and vehicle import industries.

Requirements:

- A Masterโ€™s degree in Project Management, Economics, Finance, International Development, or a related field.

- At least 8 years of proven experience in development projects (GCF, AF, GEF, etc.) and climate finance or L&D disciplines.

- Sound knowledge of the Vanuatu climate landscape and government mechanisms.

-Excellent report writing skills and a track record in stakeholder engagement.

๐Ÿ“ข Join GGGI as an MRV Consultant for NDC Tracking in Samoa!

The Global Green Growth Institute - GGGI is seeking a technical expert to join our Samoa Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) project. This role will strengthen Samoaโ€™s technical and institutional capacities to fulfil its UNFCCC obligations and track progress toward Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) targets, specifically within the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) and Waste sectors.

We are currently accepting applications for this individual consultancy assignment. The role works closely with the Climate Change Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE).

The role: Conduct gap and needs assessments for NDC tracking in the AFOLU and waste sectors, develop data-sharing agreements, identify and validate suitable NDC tracking and GHG estimation tools, develop comprehensive M&E frameworks and QA/QC plans, and deliver capacity-building training workshops for national stakeholders.

Key requirements: Masterโ€™s degree in environmental science, engineering, policy, economics, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in climate change, environmental policy, or GHG inventory compilation (preferably in the Samoa/Pacific Islands context), and demonstrated expertise in IPCC methodologies, NDC tracking, and Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirements.

The Global Green Growth Institute - GGGI is seeking a motivated consultant to join our team in Tarawa, Kiribati. This role is critical to the delivery of the GCF Readiness 2 Project, which aims to enhance Kiribatiโ€™s capacity to access climate finance and engage effectively with the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

In this position, you will serve as a primary liaison between the Climate Finance Division (CFD), the Office of the President, Republic of Kiribati, the Kiribati National Expert Group (KNEG), and other key stakeholders. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening climate finance coordination, supporting the pipeline of project ideas, and raising the visibility of climate initiatives across the country.

What we are looking for:

- Candidates must be Kiribati Nationals or hold a valid work permit to work in Kiribati.

- 5 โ€“ 8 years of relevant experience with a Masterโ€™s degree (or equivalent combination of education/experience) in development studies, climate change, economics, or related fields.

- Proficiency in both written and spoken I-Kiribati is required.

CONSULTANCY TENDER OPPORTUNITY

The Global Green Growth Institute - GGGI is inviting proposals from qualified consulting firms to support the development of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) for Solomon Islands and Vanuatu as well as Non-Motorized Transport Strategies for Fiji as part of the E-Mobility projects co-executed by GGGI as the Technical Executing Partner for the respective governments.

The projects are funded by the Global Environment Facilityโ€™s GEF-8 cycle, supported by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) as the implementing agency.

The selected firm will report to and work closely with GGGIโ€™s Chief Technical Advisor supporting the delivery of the assignment in Fiji, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands, in close coordination with relevant national counterparts in the three countries.

This work will support the development of practical, context-appropriate sustainable urban mobility planning frameworks that promote safer, more accessible, inclusive, and low-carbon transport systems, including improved conditions for walking, cycling, and public transport integration, in Pacific Island urban contexts.
