About the Role
We’re searching for an enthusiastic, versatile, and self-motivated technician who brings a mature work ethic – and isn’t afraid to crack a joke or two. This full-time Field Service Technician role will see you delivering top-quality service to our valued customers while carrying out preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs.

You’ll work on a wide variety of equipment, including:
• Forklifts
• EWP's
• Scissor lifts
• Our Hire Fleet

Repairs range from basic servicing to complete overhauls. The role is primarily field-based, with support from our main workshop in Cairns, QLD.

Skills and Experience
• A relevant Mechanical Trade Certificate (Car,Forklift, Petrol/LPG, Diesel, or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic)
• A current C Class Driver’s Licence (HR Licence is a bonus)
• Hands-on servicing and diagnostic experience in a similar industry (automotive, mining, agriculture, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of petrol & diesel engines and hydraulic systems
• LPG Certificate (preferred but not essential)
• Battery electric experience is an advantage
• A strong commitment to workplace safety
• A customer-first attitude with excellent communication skills
• The ability to manage your workload independently and use your time efficiently

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

NQ Forklifts & Mechanical is a well-established machinery business in Cairns, we have been successfully satisfying our customers for nearly 10 years. Our attention to detail is paramount in our continuing growth, and we believe customer service and satisfaction is critical to our success.

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, versatile, reliable, self-motivated person with a positive and mature work ethic to join our team on a full time basis. The FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN position will be responsible for delivering a high quality of service to our customers whilst performing preventative and non-scheduled maintenance work. Initially, you will be working on a wide range of forklifts, EWP's, scissor lifts and other hire equipment, carrying out all types of repairs and servicing from minor works to complete overhauls. The role will be based out of our main workshop located in Cairns QLD.

Skills and experience
• Mechanical Trade Certificate (Forklift Mechanic/Petrol/LPG Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic/ Heavy Mechanic Qualification)
• Current C Class Drivers Licence - HR an advantage
• Prior servicing & diagnostics experience gained in a similar industry; heavy or light vehicle, mining, agriculture, etc.
• Solid understanding of diesel engines and hydraulics
• LPG Certificate (preferred but not required)
• Experience in Battery Electrics an advantage
• Strong commitment to safe work practices
• Proven experience providing customer service that exceeds expectations
• The motivation to drive your own workload and work without supervision. Reliable time management skills with the ability to adapt and manage schedules effectively

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗚?

Meet at our yard around 6am & work amongst the crew to get the trucks ready for the day. 🤙
You won't know everyone's real name for months but you start to realise a few nick names being thrown around.
You jump in the drivers seat with your colleagues, spending the entire time picking the perfect driving tunes only to arrive at your first site. 🔊
You get started by walking some equipment to the site assisting with the install & dismantle of our height safety equipment.
🤷‍♂️ You're still not sure about everything but you're lead by a team who's helping you understand what everything does & how to work with confidence.

Be careful, there's always an opportunity for a few laughs while you're getting fit at work.
🛻 The crew jumps back in the truck & have settled on a tune to get to the next site. It's not Miley Cyrus.

Your smoko sandwich is already hot & floppy, 🥪 but you remember to bring your esky to keep everything cool tomorrow. Sam tells you all the best smoko cafes nearby & who has the best meal deals for lunch.
