PHCM Supporting Community-Led Learning and Workforce Development in Aurukun
Last week, PHCM Managing Director Charlie Street travelled to Aurukun to continue discussions around an exciting new community initiative, the proposed Wu' Aurukun Community Foundation.
The Foundation is being established by Olk Aurukun Enterprisers to support the creation of the Wu' Aurukun Learning Service, a community-led adult education and training service focused on helping local people build skills, confidence, qualifications, and employment pathways.
During the visit, Charlie met with potential Foundation Directors from the Aurukun community to discuss governance, leadership and the long-term vision for the organisation. Meetings were also held with Aurukun Shire Council's CEO and Directors to seek Council support and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The proposed Learning Service will focus on:
✅ Leadership and community capability development
✅ Digital literacy and essential life skills
✅ Accredited training partnerships
✅ Mentoring and coaching programs
✅ Local jobs and local solutions
PHCM is proud to support communities to design and lead their own development initiatives. We believe sustainable outcomes are achieved when communities are empowered to shape their own future.
