Not every software update is urgent, but knowing which ones are really matters.

When a critical patch is delayed, a known vulnerability can remain exposed, potentially leading to disruption, data exposure or urgent recovery work.

A strong security process helps teams decide what to patch, plan for, or monitor, based on risk and operational impact.

📲 Do you know which systems would create the biggest impact if they went offline? Quo Group can help bring greater visibility and structure to your IT environment.

Security patching isn’t just an IT housekeeping task. It’s part of maintaining a reliable technology environment.

A patch is a vendor-issued fix for a known fault, security weakness or reliability issue in software, operating systems, applications or network devices.

For larger or multi-site organisations, effective patching starts with visibility: knowing what needs attention, what matters most and when action is required.

📲 When was the last time you had a clear view of what’s due to be patched across your business? Speak with Quo Group about strengthening your patch management approach.

What should a staff member do when a suspicious caller claims to be from IT, a supplier or another trusted organisation?

They shouldn’t have to guess.

A simple workplace process can make all the difference:

1️⃣ Stop
Don’t provide information or follow instructions immediately.

2️⃣ Verify
Contact the person or organisation independently using details you already trust.

3️⃣ Report
Make sure staff know who internally - or at your IT provider - they should contact about suspicious activity.

4️⃣ Share
If one staff member receives a suspicious call, others may be targeted too. Raising awareness helps the wider team recognise it.

Technology plays an important role in cybersecurity, but clear processes and trusted support matter just as much.

That’s the approach Quo Group brings to its clients: understanding their business, their people and their systems so there’s someone familiar to turn to when something doesn’t seem right.

📲 If your team needs clearer cybersecurity support and processes, speak with Quo Group on 1800 234 357

Small details can help scammers build a convincing attack.

During a vishing call, they may ask for your:

👤 Name and job title
📧 Work email
🏢 Department
📞 Contact number
💻 Systems your organisation uses

Be cautious about what you confirm to unsolicited callers - not just passwords or financial details.

A suspicious phone call doesn’t always sound suspicious.

Vishing scammers can be polished, convincing and armed with enough information to sound like someone you should trust.

🚩 Be cautious when a caller:
• Creates urgency or tells you to act immediately
• Asks for passwords, authentication codes or sensitive information
• Wants you to bypass your normal procedures
• Pressures you not to speak with anyone else
• Asks you to download software or grant remote access
• Becomes pushy when you try to verify who they are

Here’s the important part: you don’t need to make a decision while you’re still on the call.

Hang up. Find the organisation’s official contact details independently. Then call them back and verify the request.

At Quo Group, we believe good cybersecurity should give your people the confidence to recognise risks and know exactly what to do next.

Not every cyber threat arrives in your inbox 📞

Vishing, or voice phishing, is when a scammer uses a phone call to convince someone to reveal information, transfer money, approve access or take another action they normally wouldn’t.

The caller might claim to be from:
🏦 Your bank
💻 Your IT provider
🏢 A supplier
👤 Even someone within your own organisation

What makes vishing effective is that it targets people, not just technology. A confident voice, a familiar company name and a sense of urgency can make a request feel legitimate.

That’s why cybersecurity needs to include both the right technology and a team that knows when to question something.

Quo Group works closely with Australian organisations to build practical cybersecurity policies around the way their people actually work.

You're only stepping away for a minute...

But that's often all it takes.

Whether you're grabbing a coffee, answering the door, or taking a quick phone call, leaving your computer unlocked can give others access to sensitive information.

Making it a habit to lock your device before walking away is one of the simplest ways to protect your data.

🔒 Press Windows + L on Windows
🔒 Press Control + Command + Q on Mac

Small actions help create stronger security across your entire business.

At Quo Group, we help organisations develop secure IT practices that protect teams wherever they work.
