PAKA Managing project uncertainty through disciplined project management processes and procedures.

What is it with executive managers, and their unconscious bias towards project controls data.
In nearly every case project management and their executive rely on their intuitions, and ignoring the cold hard truth of what the data is telling them, to inform their decision making.
Surely there has to be a mix of business data intelligence and human intuition, as part of the decision making process.
The future for project controlers might be AI decision making bots.
Maybe cyberdyne can create the perfect executive manager.😀

We've been working on updating our schedule management plan, and one of out key strategies is to write the plan to align with how we do business, rather than a text book ideal on how schedule management should be performed.
The truth is, there is no perfect way to manage schedules and implement project controls in a developmental IT intensive programs that interfaces with legacy systems.
However most executives seem to seek guidance from a raft of theorists who can talk the talk on how schedules are managed, but fail when it comes to actually implementing project controls and schedule management.
This is why we started PAKA. We are a group of like minded project controls experts who can call on decades of experience, not text books, to implement project controls procedures and practices in any program, no matter what the complexity.

Its been interesting working for a company where project management is not their prime course of business. One of the challenges has been to encourage project managers to make a management decision based on the best and most accurate project controls data you can provide.
Seems no matter how good the project data, PM'S seem to want to wait until the crocodiles are in the canoe before taking management action.

It never surprises me that step 10, of the EVM standard, take management action, is like an impossible skill set.
There are many project controls professionals out there who can set up and produce schedule, cost and earned value data.
However the ability of project managers to use and act on the data and analysis provided by the project controls staff, is weak if not absent in a lot of cases.
How is it that taking action, is so difficult for most project managers.
Is it they don't believe or trust the data, or is it a case where making a change to prevent a risk or catastrophe happening doesn't win medals or recognition.
Either way, good project managers know how to take action based on informative data analysis.

So we're after a scheduler who is self sufficient and can do things like, build a wbs, progress and maintain a schedule, and actually be easy to get along with.
If this is you, or you know someone who fits the bill, please drop us a line
