It is with pride, that NOHC can advise that last night at the National Trust (ACT) Heritage Awards 2026, our project: ‘The Design and Construction of Visitor Facilities at Yankee Hat Aboriginal Rock Art Site following the 2020 Orroral Fire’ won the ‘First Nations Heritage’ category Award. The whole team included: Namadgi National Park, Navin Officer Heritage Consultants, The Traditional Custodians of the Namadgi Ranges and associated peoples, Art of MultiMedia, SGC Architecture, Tait Network, Veris, 3D WYSIWYG, Makin-Trax Australia, Iconic Trails and Screenmakers.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this success.
The trophy will be kept at the Namadgi Visitor Centre, near Tharwa, ACT.

Last week on a beautiful spring day Sneha Kishnadwala, Faezeh Dadfar and Susan McIntyre-Tamwoy carried out a site inspection of the former CBC bank and got to meet some people doing great community work at The Formal Project- Bloom. Good people, positive vibes and a great building.

The Yankee Hat Aboriginal rock art site visitor facilities project (following the 2020 Orroral fire), is a finalist in this year's National Trust (ACT) Heritage Awards!

NOHC was a key member of the team, responsible for co-ordinating Aboriginal consultation, and reporting on design parameters and preferred design.

Congratulations to the traditional custodians who worked towards a consensus position, and to all the project members who contributed to the success of the project.

A decision will be announced on the 15th October 2026

The new viewing platform, signage and boardwalks were opened in October 2025.

Our intern Anja Pelepko from the USA has been working at NOHC's Sydney office on a research project that will enhance our reports. She has also turned out to be a dab hand at jigsaw puzzles. I bought this with the idea that staff could use it to destress! It turns out that apparently puzzles make some people more stressed! Not Anja though, she has powered through it.
