π¨ That scary "VIRUS DETECTED" pop-up might be the scam itself.
Fake virus warnings are designed to create panic. They may claim your computer has been hacked, your personal information is at risk, or that you need to call "Microsoft Support" immediately.
Before you do anything:
β
Donβt call the phone number on the pop-up
β
Donβt click "Fix Now" or similar buttons
β
Donβt allow anyone remote access to your computer
β
Close the browser or restart your computer if necessary
β
If you already interacted with the warning, get your computer checked by someone you trust
Scammers rely on urgency. Taking a few minutes to stop and verify what youβre seeing could save you from losing money, passwords, or personal information.
