ARMS 2017 Conference

ARMS 2017 Conference ARMS is the Australasian professional society for research managers and administrators, developing and promoting international best practice standards. Kia Ora!

We welcome you to the 18th Australasian Research Management Society Conference 2017 to be held in Wellington, New Zealand. Our society of over 2100 members promotes an internationally-connected community of research managers and administrators who operate at the highest standards to support and enhance the global delivery of research excellence. The conference will feature internationally renowned

key note speakers, oral and poster presentations, industry exhibitions, collaboration meetings, and professional development workshops of significance to this global profession. We will also make time to celebrate and develop new friendships and encourage satellite meetings aligned with ARMS 2017. Our conference is deeply embedded in public research policy and the Honourable Steven Joyce, says: “As the Minister of Science and Innovation, I am writing to express my support for the 2017 Australasian Research Management Society Conference to be held in New Zealand.” The conference’s theme Funding Research: Drawing on the Power of Collaboration will explore opportunities to bring together professionals in research organisations and funding bodies to create greater efficiencies in the wider management of research and its funding. The Mayor of Wellington City, Celia Wade-Brown, recently said: “As the capital of New Zealand, Wellington is the ideal place to hold this conference. … As a compact, cosmopolitan city there are many exciting attractions and activities in Wellington. We are well-known for the wildlife sanctuary at Zealandia, the Botanic Gardens and the Waterfront which is a popular spot for running, walking, cycling, roller blading and other activities.”

The venue for the conference will be the National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa – located at the stunning Waterfront – within walking distance to accommodation, and all major social events aligned with the conference, allowing calm and recuperation during an action packed and intellectually stimulating conference. The New Zealand and Pacific Chapter of the Australasian Research Management Society is thrilled to host the conference in Wellington as the seat of public research funding agencies, research providers, and as a hub of cultural and outdoor activities. We are looking forward to welcoming you with ‘Haere mai!’ to Wellington in September 2017! Dr Chris Kroger and Ms Jayne McQueen
