Canberra Business Chamber The Canberra Business Chamber are the voice of the business community and private sector in the ACT.

Canberra Business Chamber is a member-based organisation, representing a broad range of businesses as well as many of the ACT’s key industry associations and community organisations. Our purpose is to drive the economic prosperity and growth of Canberra and our region through business. We provide our members with information, advice and resources. This includes access to Workplace Relations advice

, business tools, templates & resources, and relevant & timely information that helps them save time & money and make business decisions. We facilitate access to business networks that build markets, customer base and supply chains, and our database of 10,000 ACT and region business contacts. We advocate on behalf of the business community and lead the discussion on the issues that impact business in the ACT. We engage with governments, the media and other stakeholders to ensure the voice of the ACT private sector is heard.

Great news that the Police are focusing on crime and anti-social behaviour in the CBD, and good that they are working to make sure that those who need social services support are getting it. An enhanced Police presence is a positive thing – and will help ensure that Canberra is seen as a safe and fun place to be out, either at night or during the day. A packed room yesterday at our Budget Lunch to listen to Treasurer Chris Steel explain his Budget for next financial year.
There were lots of questions form our audience, lots of concerns about Payroll tax and commercial rates increases, but also recognition that there were some positive announcements about stamp duty and "Missing Middle" housing.
One of the big (but more light-hearted) questions on the minds of audience was: "When will the Bird Man Rally be back?". No clear answers on this but we're not holding our breath.
