Recent data breaches announced in the media have reminded us how important personal information is and how concerning it can be when it falls into the wrong hands.
White Pillar takes the Security and Privacy of information incredibly seriously and always endeavours to protect the data privacy and integrity of information relating to our clients.

Throughout October it was Cyber Security Awareness Month and the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) shared resources to help protect personal information and strengthen defences in the event of a data breach. Here are three 3 things recommended by ACSC:

• Update your devices to protect important information
• Protect your accounts using MFA
• Back up data regularly before it’s too late

Additional tips to help protect your accounts and keep your personal information safe are:

• Use multi-factor authentication for your accounts where possible
• Be careful when clicking on links and providing personal information
• Make sure your contact details are up to date when using online services.

Happy New Financial Year!
White Pillar would like to thank all our clients for their support over the past 12 months and as always, we are fully committed to helping you achieve your short, medium and long term goals. As you would be aware, the ever-changing world of payroll and book-keeping has meant the introduction of new Federal and State Government changes to individuals and businesses. These include new continuing professional education (CPE) requirements from the Tax Practitioners Board for BAS Agents & Tax Agents, increasing the CPE hours required to maintain registration and the requirement for licenses to perform tasks on behalf of our Clients.

Another significant change is the increase in the minimum wage and the subsequent Modern Award increases from the first full pay period from 1 July 2022. This is also in addition to the increase to Superannuation Guarantee from 10% to 10.5% as of 1 July 2022. That means that employer contributions on applicable salary and wages paid from 1 July 2022 (regardless of when the money was earned!) will attract the increase.

The last financial year had its challenges, and we assisted our clients in navigating all things COVID in a business context. The ever-changing world of payroll and book-keeping has meant the introduction of new Federal and State Government changes to individuals and businesses. We have guided our clients through the complex navigation of Stimulus Packages, Job-Keeper and Job Maker.
