🔋 What’s a VPP… and should you care?
It’s one of the biggest questions we’re getting right now in WA.
A VPP (Virtual Power Plant) is part of the new WA battery rebate program, where eligible homeowners can access battery incentives while allowing Synergy limited access to your battery during specific grid events.
Here’s what actually happens:
âś… Around 15 to 25 events per year
✅ You’re credited for any grid power used during those periods
âś… You can earn around 70c per kWh exported from your battery
âś… Estimated savings of around $100 to $200 per year on top of your normal battery savings
Despite some of the misinformation floating around, Synergy can’t just “take over” your battery whenever they want.
The program is heavily regulated, audited, and has strict installation requirements. That means choosing the right installer matters more than ever.
At Solahart Cannington, we’ve been helping Australians with solar for over 70 years, and we make sure every system is installed properly, labelled correctly, and eligible for every rebate available.
If you’re considering a battery in WA, now’s the time to get informed before the rebates change.
