The Orange Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) has recently completed the draft Orange Aboriginal Place Based Plan (OAPBP) 2024-2034. This roadmap is designed to support and empower Aboriginal communities across Orange over the next decade. Before finalizing the plan, we are inviting feedback from community members, leaders, and stakeholders.

The consultation period is now open and will close on Friday, 20 December 2024.

The Orange Aboriginal Place Based Plan (OAPBP) 2024-2034 is now available for Community review. This plan serves as a roadmap to support the evolving needs of Aboriginal Community across Orange and will be regularly updated to stay responsive to the Community. We invite you to view this "working document” and share your feedback during the public exhibition period, open until Friday, 20 December 2024.

Orange CAPO will be managing a comprehensive strategic initiative, the Orange Aboriginal Place Based Plan, ‘Ngumbaaydyil’ (all together in one place – all are one), with Aboriginal Public and Private sector partners and is resourced through the NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC).

The Orange Place Based Plan, will be based on community input, spanning from 2024 to 2034, and aims to enhance the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of the Aboriginal community in Orange, New South Wales, supporting the delivery of the Closing the Gap (CTG) outcomes.

Throughout this closed Aboriginal Community Consultation session, we aim to review the 2014-2024 Orange Aboriginal Social Development Plan (https://www.orange.nsw.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Aboriginal-Social-Development-Plan.pdf), evaluate whether the strategic goals outlined have been achieved and discuss the priority areas of concerns that should be highlighted in the development of the Orange Aboriginal Place Based Plan.

NAIDOC Week 2023 | For Our Elders 💙

When I think about Our Elders, I think about what they had to endure, the pain they had to experience, what they had witnessed but most importantly, how much they have done to ensure the younger generations didn’t have to go through the same things they have.

Regardless of whether you think they don’t know anything, the truth is as you get older you realise that they are knowledge holders and really do have wisdom to pass on.

I truly hope that I can make them feel appreciated, loved and valued every chance I can. Respect your Elders because you will never know what they have gone through to ensure you get to live the life they could only dreamed of.

💙 NAIDOC Week 2023 — For Our Elders | 2 - 9 July

This years theme for NAIDOC Week is ‘For Our Elders’ it is to pay respect to our Elders past, present, and emerging.

We acknowledge their struggles, their heart, their fight, and how they have paved the way for us.

We thank them for the knowledge that they hid and fought to hold on to for a chance to pass it down to the next generation.

I am blessed to be surrounded by strong, intelligent, and loving Elders within my community and family, I would not be the woman I am today without them.

I will be spending this week as I do every week, spending time with them, listening to their stories, learning from their knowledge, and showing them the love they deserve.
