This feature has been great for us . . .Auto Power OFF. . . On some other machines this is a common feature but most fanuc machines it is an option.
So when we are closing up at night and want to run unattended, even for those short 1-2 hour cycle times, we can hit the cycle start button, let the machine do its thing, then once its finished it will shunt the main power and not sit wasting energy for the rest of the night.
A nice feature that has been on the wish-list for a while!

The .usa Varia Vx Tool system on our new SL3000BLM by .
This system allows for quick change of drive tools but more importantly it allows standardisation with preset tools and height offsets.
A no brainer for us in our persistent drive to standardise our processes and cut down setup times.

After another machineshop friend of recommended these we said we would give these YG-1 Cutting Tools HQ HPD drills a go.
This is a 12mm hole in 60mm en26 round bar. Surface finish is pretty great.
We use jobber drills for a lot of our low volume work but surface finish is always an issue
Keen to see how these go in a softer material

Check out the new Samchully Workholding, Inc. chuck we got on our new SMEC SL3000LM.
This is called a JB chuck (jaw boring) and makes making accurate soft jaws quick and easy.
See how easy it is to set. . . . No jaw adjustment, no boring rings . . . Awesome

We needed a way to quickly lift heavy ish parts in and out of our lathe.
We dont have a gantry setup yet (but will shortly) but in the interim we need something that will work.
Fast forward 4 hours and Harris Proof Fabrication came up with this adoption to pur standard jib arm for the forklift.
We're quite happy with it. What solutions have the smaller shops come up with to load and unload heavy parts into machines where forklift access may he an issue?
