πŸ’‘ Planning an outdoor project this spring? Here's why garden lighting deserves a spot at the very top of your list.

Our latest blog is a complete guide to garden lighting design for Brisbane and SEQ homes, covering everything from the different layers of lighting (ambient, task, accent and pathway) to choosing fixtures that actually survive our humidity and summer storms. We also cover smart lighting controls, safety and compliance with a licensed electrician, budgeting tips, and how to light up small courtyards and townhouse gardens just as beautifully as a large backyard.

If you want your garden to look just as stunning at 8pm as it does at 8am, this is the guide for you. πŸŒ³πŸŒ™

✨ Garden Tip Tuesday!

Still switching your garden lights on and off by hand every evening? There's an easier way.

Smart controllers and timers let you schedule, dim, and group your garden lighting into zones, all from an app on your phone. Set your entertaining area to a warm, dimmed glow for a dinner party, while your pathway and security lighting keeps running on its own automated schedule in the background.

It's the same idea behind the smart irrigation systems many of our clients already use, just applied to lighting instead of water. Less fiddling, more enjoying your garden. πŸ“±πŸ’‘

Want to know if smart controls could work for your outdoor space?

🏑 Fresh off the tools β€” check out this brand new garden area we've just turfed, mulched and landscaped!

This undulating, hilly section features big, wide garden beds ready for the client to plant out, with sandstone retaining and well over 300 metres of garden bed running around the corner of the property 😲

A few of the finer details that make this space work as hard as it looks:
πŸͺ¨ Larger pebble laid along the fence line to stop overland water flow getting underneath
πŸ’§ Pebble drainage at the base of the slope to help manage runoff
🌲 Coarse pine bark mulch β€” it holds brilliantly on sloped sections, unlike finer mulches that wash away

It's this kind of attention to drainage and slope management that separates a garden that looks good on day one from one that still looks good five years later.

😳 ➑️ 😍 From overgrown and untamed to clean, functional and beautiful!

This side passage was completely reclaimed β€” years of overgrown weeds and scrub cleared away and replaced with a tidy gravel path, sleek stepping stones, and a fresh garden bed featuring striking bromeliads, dracaena and low hedging. We also styled up the courtyard with a stunning mixed succulent bowl (hello agave, echeveria and sedum!) plus lush potted feature plants like bird of paradise and mandevilla.

Sometimes the most rewarding transformations aren't the front yard showstoppers β€” they're the forgotten spaces that finally get some love πŸ’š A once-unusable side passage is now a clean, walkable, low-maintenance space the whole property can enjoy.

Garden Tip Tuesday! Uplight your feature plants for night-time impact)🌿✨

Want your garden's best features to shine after dark, not just during the day?
Uplighting is one of our favourite techniques.

Position a small fixture at the base of a feature tree, sculptural plant, or piece of garden art, and shine the light upward. It creates dramatic shadows, highlights bark texture and foliage form, and turns a daytime favourite into a genuine night-time showstopper. It works beautifully on plants chosen for year-round structure and seasonal colour too, so your garden keeps giving you something to look at even through the cooler months.

It's a simple technique, but it makes an enormous difference to how a garden feels once the sun goes down. πŸŒ³πŸ’‘

Have a feature plant in mind that deserves the spotlight? Send us a photo, we'd love to help you plan it!

Say goodbye to thirsty lawns and hello to a stunning low-maintenance garden bed! ✨

This drought-tolerant transformation is bursting with texture and colour β€” architectural agave, striking cacti, and vibrant spiky accents all nestled into rich timber mulch with clean hardwood edging. It's the kind of garden that looks after itself while still turning heads! πŸ‘πŸ’š

Perfect for busy homeowners across South East Queensland who want a beautiful outdoor space without the endless watering and mowing. Whether it's a side passage, a courtyard corner, or a full garden refresh, we design with your lifestyle (and our subtropical climate) in mind.

🌿✨ Garden Tip Tuesday!

Not all outdoor lights are built for Brisbane's climate, and this is one of the most common questions we get asked. Our humidity, heavy summer downpours and intense UV exposure are tough on cheap plastic fixtures, they tend to yellow, crack or fail within a couple of seasons.

Our tip: look for a minimum IP65 weatherproof rating for general garden lighting, and IP67 or higher for anything near a pool or low-lying area prone to pooling water. LED fixtures in marine-grade or powder-coated aluminium will outlast the bargain bin options every single time, and they run cool enough to sit safely near foliage and mulch too.

A little research before you buy saves a lot of replacement headaches down the track! πŸ’‘πŸŒ§οΈ

πŸŒ™ Does your garden disappear the moment the sun goes down? You're not alone! It's one of the most common things we hear from Brisbane homeowners. All that time, money and care that goes into a beautiful garden, and it's only fully enjoyed for half the day.

The good news? It doesn't have to be that way.

Our latest blog walks you through exactly how to plan a garden lighting project for your SEQ outdoor space, from choosing weatherproof fixtures built for our climate, to layering ambient, task, and accent lighting so every zone of your garden works as hard at night as it does by day.

Whether you're planning a full outdoor renovation or just want to finally light up that feature tree properly, this guide has you covered. πŸ’‘πŸŒΏ
