This undulating, hilly section features big, wide garden beds ready for the client to plant out, with sandstone retaining and well over 300 metres of garden bed running around the corner of the property 😲

A few of the finer details that make this space work as hard as it looks:
🪨 Larger pebble laid along the fence line to stop overland water flow getting underneath
💧 Pebble drainage at the base of the slope to help manage runoff
🌲 Coarse pine bark mulch — it holds brilliantly on sloped sections, unlike finer mulches that wash away

This side passage was completely reclaimed — years of overgrown weeds and scrub cleared away and replaced with a tidy gravel path, sleek stepping stones, and a fresh garden bed featuring striking bromeliads, dracaena and low hedging. We also styled up the courtyard with a stunning mixed succulent bowl (hello agave, echeveria and sedum!) plus lush potted feature plants like bird of paradise and mandevilla.

Sometimes the most rewarding transformations aren't the front yard showstoppers — they're the forgotten spaces that finally get some love 💚 A once-unusable side passage is now a clean, walkable, low-maintenance space the whole property can enjoy.

🌿✨ Garden Tip Tuesday!

Not all outdoor lights are built for Brisbane's climate, and this is one of the most common questions we get asked. Our humidity, heavy summer downpours and intense UV exposure are tough on cheap plastic fixtures, they tend to yellow, crack or fail within a couple of seasons.

Our tip: look for a minimum IP65 weatherproof rating for general garden lighting, and IP67 or higher for anything near a pool or low-lying area prone to pooling water. LED fixtures in marine-grade or powder-coated aluminium will outlast the bargain bin options every single time, and they run cool enough to sit safely near foliage and mulch too.

A little research before you buy saves a lot of replacement headaches down the track! 💡🌧️
