They're located in the Cardiff Industrial Estate, providing support to people of all walks of life in their time of need - from a low cost food pantry, free food items, dignity items, free counseling, and help from support workers to get you back on your feet, this event is yet another example of how they work to bring the community together!
They're open Mon-Thurs 9-4, and Fridays 9-12. Check out their page to see what they have going on 😎😻

✨Happy New Year, Newy Families!✨
I hope you all had a safe and happy end of 2021, and have lots of fun and exciting things planned for 2022!
I made sure to put my report in to Santa for all the children I had the pleasure of looking after in 2021, and I hope you were all surprised on Christmas morning ✨

Given the high numbers of COVID19 in our community, I want to reassure families that I will continue to be COVID Safe in 2022.
I received my booster on 30/12, am limiting my time in the community, and am making sure I wear a mask, handwash and sanitise. I am also regularly checking the Service NSW app for alerts, and of course, monitoring for symptoms! I should also have some Rapid Tests midway through next week to use before I come to your home.

A gentle reminder to everyone of my policy of not working when I am unwell, and to cancel bookings when ANYONE in your family is unwell with a transmissible illness. I do not have any cancellation penalties when you cancel due to family illness, including families isolating, awaiting test results or identified as close contacts.

This is one of the more important ways we can keep our community and ourselves safe, and is non-negotiable. Failure to disclose an illness may result in me no longer providing services to your family.

If you would like some help over the school holidays, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Stay safe, and hope to see you soon!

Lockdown, homeschooling, and wet weather can quickly turn a tidy home into a disaster zone if activities aren't packed away after use!

Transitioning between tasks can be extra challenging for some kids, and the "boring" part of packing away can bring out all sorts of negative feelings and behaviours.

It's super tempting to just do it yourself - less tears, less fighting, and it's much faster....but this isn't helpful in the long run. Part of learning to be an active family member includes participating in the boring stuff that keeps a house or workspace (or sleep space) tidy.

Yes, it might take twice as long for them to pick up the Lego, or put dirty dishes in the sink or dishwasher, the clothes being put away might not be 100% neat and tidy, but ultimately it does become a life skill that is incredibly important in fostering independence in daily activities and responsibilities.

It doesn't have to be every task, every day, but every little bit helps develop skills and confidence in your child and their sense of responsibility and their place in the family unit.

Every new skill learnt is one less skill you need to do *for* them in the future, freeing up your time to enjoy developing your own sense of accomplishment and appreciation for the precious little ones you share your life with!

I have developed quite a few tricks to persuade kids to participate in the "boring stuff" over my years as a nanny, babysitter, sister and speech pathologist, and I love sharing those tricks with families!

Stay safe and hope to see you soon! 🌻🌻🌻

Good morning Newy families 🌻
I hope the sudden transition back to online learning (and the lockdown) hasn't been too stressful for you all.
In light of the sudden changes, this infographic seems extremely important. Many kids (and adults) haven't been taught the words to communicate or understand how stress impacts them.
It takes deliberate, loving, conscientious teaching of how to identify our distress in its early stages (a sore tummy, a sudden need to be attached to you, an intolerance to change), and how to use distress tolerance skills to bring down our own level of stress.
Kids are very good at sensing uncertainty and stress in caregivers and their environment, and we can sometimes see this manifest in ways that cause US more stress ...... So the stress cycle continues and becomes more intolerable!

Now is a really important time to connect with your own and your family's values, identifying what is important to nurture love, connection and growth in the home. Kids don't innately know how to communicate distress in the way a mental health literate adult would, so as caregivers it is important to name these signs and symptoms of stress for what they are!

Kids don't have the same concept of time as we do, either; the unpleasant sensations associated with distress are overwhelming and can feel like they'll last forever!

It's important to remember that emotions don't last forever, they peak like a wave, and caregivers can help them recognise and ride that wave to safety.

Stay safe over the coming days, and remember to connect to your own inner child, reach out to loved ones and professionals to assist in your own stress management.

Hopefully I will see you safe and well soon!

Good morning Newy families 🌞
A friendly reminder that bookings will have to be rescheduled in the event of contagious/transmissible illnesses in the household - including my own!
While I am now fully vaccinated, that does not make me immune, it simply means that if I were to catch the flu or COVID19, my symptoms should be less serious. That means that if I (or your family) were to be infected, we may unknowingly spread it to others in our community.
If you have been in the identified hotspots, the greater Sydney area or the Central Coast, have been directed to quarantine, are awaiting test results, have a cough, sore throat, headache or unusual amounts of fatigue, nausea etc in the 14 days prior to your booking, please alert me ASAP so that we can work together to minimise the risk of transmission to others in our community.
Similarly, I kindly ask that if you display symptoms of COVID19 shortly after your booking, please let me know so that I can quarantine and get myself tested ASAP.

I appreciate that securing childcare can be challenging at times, but I am relying on your honesty, and trusting that when I walk into your home, I am not at risk. If you knowingly do not disclose information about your COVID risk, I may not provide services to you in the future.

Together, we can stop the spread of COVID19 in our communities and keep ourselves and others safe.

Hello Newy families! I hope Term 3 has been kind to you so far, and you're all staying safe and warm!
I received my second Pfizer vaccine today, and I'm stoked!

In light of the current COVID situation in NSW, I am asking all families to please let me know if you have been to Sydney, Central Coast, any hotspots in the 14 days prior to your booking, are isolating or are awaiting your results from a COVID swab, as well as if you have had any close contact with the above. Unfortunately we will have to reschedule your booking. I am always happy to share my time, supplies, and resources, I am not comfortable with sharing ANY infections or creepy crawlies!

I do not have any penalty for cancelling a booking due to contagious or transmissible illnesses in the family (not just the children, the adults too, as children may be asymptomatic).

I am more happy to wear a mask whenever I am with your family, and will continue to follow the hand hygiene and sanitizing guidelines.

Stay safe, warm and dry, and hopefully see you soon!

I know I don't look it, but I am VERY privileged and excited to be standing in line for my first Pfizer vaccine right now!
I received my fluvax just over two weeks ago, so on the 14th of July I will be fully vaccinated!
Keeps me safe, keeps you safe, keeps everyone safer!
