🕳️ This is an example of wood borer activity—not termite damage.

Wood borers often leave visible exit holes as they emerge from affected timber, whereas termites usually remain concealed inside the wood itself.

Although the damage can appear similar to homeowners, accurate identification is essential for effective treatment and long-term protection.

What happens when we find termites during a bait station check? 👀

Termite baiting systems are designed to be regularly monitored. When termites begin feeding within a station, the goal is to let them continue—worker termites can share food with other members of the colony, helping the bait reach beyond the termites we can actually see.

As Brisbane heads into spring and conditions begin to warm, termite activity can become more noticeable around properties.

In the meantime, keep your bait stations accessible and avoid disturbing them, even if you spot activity. You can also help by keeping mulch and garden beds below weep holes and away from building edges where possible.

🐝 Spring is here—and Brisbane’s warmer days also bring an increase in wasp activity.

If you notice wasps repeatedly flying to and from the same spot, there may be a nest nearby. Depending on the species, nests can be tucked away in trees and shrubs, under eaves or around other sheltered parts of the property.

If you find one, keep children and pets away from the area and avoid disturbing or blocking the nest entrance while it’s active.

📞 Found a wasp nest around your home or business? Contact LB Pest Management to arrange professional treatment.

If you know us, you might already know that LB Pest Management is owner-operated by a husband-and-wife team. What you might not know is that we’re expecting a baby! 🍼

If our socials have seemed a little quieter lately, that’s why—we’ve been busy behind the scenes preparing for our newest (and smallest) team member.

With our baby due in September, we’ll be taking some time to focus on our growing family. Our availability will be reduced throughout September, before returning to normal in October.

We really appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding and continued support of our little family business 💚💛

At first glance, this might just look like peeling paint.

But underneath was clear evidence of termite activity hidden within the timber.

One of the reasons termites can be difficult to detect is that they often feed from the inside out, leaving the surface looking relatively intact until damage becomes more noticeable. That's why signs such as bubbling paint, timber that sounds hollow when tapped, or doors and windows that suddenly become difficult to close are worth investigating.

Even during Brisbane's mild winters, termites remain active below ground and inside timber.

A simple habit that can help is to periodically inspect painted timber around your home for changes in appearance, especially if it seems swollen, blistered or damaged without an obvious cause.

📞 If you've noticed unusual changes to timber around your property, contact LB Pest Management to book a professional termite inspection.

Winter doesn’t mean pest activity stops! 🐀🪳

Greater Brisbane’s mild winters make this a great time to stay on top of pest activity and get your home prepared before the warmer breeding season kicks in.

A little prevention now can mean fewer unwanted visitors later 🏡

Have you ever wondered why termites surround themselves with mud?

Unlike ants, termites lose moisture very easily. To survive, they build mud shelter tubes and galleries that protect them from drying out while they travel between their nest and a food source.

That's why disturbing a small section of mud can reveal hundreds of termites working underneath, just like in this photo.

During Brisbane's cooler winter months, termite activity doesn't stop—it simply becomes less noticeable. They continue feeding year-round, often hidden from view.

One simple way to reduce termite risk is to keep garden beds, mulch and stored timber from sitting against the outside walls of your home. Reducing concealed access points makes it easier to spot signs of activity during inspections.

📞 If you're due for a termite inspection or have noticed suspicious mud leads around your property, contact LB Pest Management to book an inspection.
