The honor recognizes a career that has left an enduring mark on motorsports. Through decades of work as a broadcaster, writer, and historian, Dave has preserved the sport’s rich history while bringing its people, personalities, and greatest moments to life for generations of race fans.

His passion, knowledge, and dedication have made him one of racing’s most respected voices—and a most deserving choice for this distinguished Kings Royal honor.

It’s nearly time for 26 Australian speedway fans to take off on yet another Month of Money tour to the USA.

26 in 2026 makes for a nice round number, as does up to 55 days on tour for most. 42 races across 16 states is an incredible schedule involving 10 successive nights of Pennsylvania Speedweek, USAC’s Indiana Sprintweek for nine nights, the four nights of the Kings Royal at Eldora, eights nights in a row for the Knoxville Nationals week, plus a myriad of one off races at 13 other iconic tracks.

The sightseeing opportunities are immense as we traverse the highways and by-ways of America for 16,000 kms.

Australian Speedcar Title at Simpson Speedway in southwestern Victoria. Figured one had to be there so travelled down yesterday with Russell Blackman.

The photos below demonstrate our view of proceedings. Nice and high but unfortunately not high enough to avoid the flies.

But the leftover Bushman’s repellent courtesy of Shayne Andrews has helped considerably to reduce the impact.

Jarod Steen and Rusty Bysouth were also thankful to Shayne.

Our flagship Month of Money tour for 2026 is coming quickly .....

It leaves Australia on June 24th, or July 12th or August 6th. The A, the B or the C tour. Just depends how much time you have. But everybody leaves the USA on August 17th after the Knoxville Nationals.

Depending on which tour you choose, this is the number of races you will see.

The 'A main' gets in 43! The 'B' has 30 and the 'C main' gets 9.

Night 5 of our speedway adventures in Darwin was also the last night of Chariots of Thunder.
L McHugh was the expected winner of the final feature, and also the point score, but he upended in spectacular fashion while chasing eventual A Main winner Jock Goodyer.

If he’d simply accepted the second placing, then the overal CoT championship would have been his. Instead Luke Storer from Portland, Victoria stole the honours with an impressive first up Chariots appearance.

Deryk was the the GST sweep winner who ‘owned’ Goodyer and he gratefully accepted the $60 from Leanne, last night’s lucky recipient.
