Drive to Hunter Valley immersed in a podcast called the Dopamine Nation

Meetings with estimation team, CEO, operations manager and the accounting team

Lamington and hot chocolate with heavy mechanic at crib

New found admiration of just how enormous big boys toys are

Just so you know ... Just because you've ignored your accounts, payroll obligations, emails, and phone calls for the last six months doesn't mean your emergency suddenly becomes our priority.

As advisors, bookkeepers, and accountants, we genuinely want to help our clients succeed. We send reminders, make calls, follow up on outstanding information, and do everything we can to keep businesses compliant and on track.

But there comes a point where accountability matters.

Burying your head in the sand doesn't make the problem disappear. It simply makes the clean up more complicated, more time consuming, and often more expensive.

If we've spent months requesting information and those requests have been ignored, it's unreasonable to expect an immediate response the moment a deadline arrives or a crisis emerges.

Good business outcomes come from communication, collaboration, and timely action.

Your lack of planning and organisation does not automatically create an emergency for us to act!

The businesses that achieve the best results aren't always the biggest or the most profitable. They're the ones that engage, communicate, and take action before problems become disasters.

Doing things that scare the s**t out of you is part of the job description when you’re a business owner.

Exhibit A: Me voluntarily jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. 🪂😂

As I was sitting in that little plane, questioning every life decision that had led me to that moment, I realised running a business feels surprisingly similar.

You spend ages preparing. Cross checking the numbers. Listening to the experts. You make a plan.

And then... you jump.

Launching a new service. Raising your prices. Hiring your first employee. Investing in growth. Putting yourself out there on social media when you’d rather hide behind your laptop.

None of it feels comfortable.

In fact, some days it feels a lot like standing at 15,000 feet thinking, “Whose idea was this and why did I agree to it?” 😅

But every major breakthrough in my business has come from doing something that scared the bejesus out me.

The funny thing is, the moment I left the plane, most of the fear disappeared and was replaced with pure adrenaline and excitement.

Business can be like that too. The things we build up in our heads are often far scarier than reality.

So here’s your reminder: the next level of growth might just be on the other side of the thing you’re avoiding.

Turns out, jumping out of a plane wasn’t the scariest thing I’ve ever done.

Building a business, backing myself, and betting on my own vision every day might actually take the crown. 😂

At least with skydiving, someone else packed the parachute 🪂
