This week's education at BNI Synergise was delivered by our very own Carol Bouwer from Carol Bouwer Creative — and it got us thinking about how we show up, not just in the room, but throughout the week.
It's easy to fall into the habit of arriving for the meeting, delivering your 60-second pitch, passing a referral if you have one, and heading straight back to your business. But BNI isn't just a meeting — it's a relationship system.
The members who see the best results tend to do three things consistently:
☕ Regular 1-2-1s — and they keep doing them, not just when they first join. The better you understand someone's business, the easier it is to refer to them confidently.
🤝 Connecting their networks — always thinking "who do I know that should meet this person?" Whether that's a coffee introduction, a LinkedIn connection, or bringing a visitor along.
💬 Staying top of mind — checking in on members, engaging online, and sharing useful information throughout the week.
When BNI exists in your everyday conversations and connections — not just on Tuesday mornings — your whole network becomes part of the system.
The difference between hoping for referrals and consistently receiving them often comes down to exactly this.
