The structure is built strong, but how do we make your pool truly stunning. This week, we begin the beautiful transformation.

After carefully making the ground around the pool perfectly flat and smooth last week (Week 7), the fun part starts. This week is all about installing the Waterline Mosaic. This tile band is like the beautiful ribbon or jewelry for your pool—it’s the first big piece of design that goes in.
This essential detail is handled by our expert partners. Tiling the waterline is hard because every tiny mosaic piece has to be perfectly straight, level, and spaced exactly right. If the tiles are even slightly off, they will look crooked when the pool is full of water. We are thrilled to be collaborating with (Builder), (Tiling), and (Tile Supplier). It’s a privilege to see the strong, meticulous concrete shell we built being finished with such flawless artistry. This mosaic is the first big sign that your dream pool is almost ready.

Have you ever seen an expensive pool that has a sinking or cracked patio right next to it? We make sure that never happens to you.

We know you want your new pool and deck to look amazing forever. That’s why we focus so much on this critical step. Now that the main pool shell is strong and the ground outside has its stable supports (the deck footings) from last week, we are setting up the area for the beautiful tiles and paving.
This week is all about making the entire ground perfectly flat and smooth. We use special tools to check every spot, so when we put down your beautiful patio stones, they will be exactly the same height. This gives you that clean, high-end look where the pool edge and patio match up perfectly, which is essential for a beautiful finish.
We also spend a lot of time creating a tiny, invisible slope away from the pool. This is super important because it makes sure that all the rain and splash water runs straight into the drains. We are stopping puddles and water damage before they even start. Finally, we clean the base perfectly, ensuring the strong glue holding your tiles sticks forever, so you never have to worry about a tile popping off. We are proud to be collaborating with on this meticulous base preparation, ensuring the ground is flawless before any finish material goes down.

We have just wrapped up a massive phase of the build, moving from wet concrete to solid ground.

Previously, the focus was entirely on spraying the shotcrete. That is the messy, high-pressure stage where we shape the pool’s walls and floor. It is loud and busy, but it is the most critical step because it creates the permanent structure that holds the water.

With that heavy lifting now complete, we moved straight into installing the deck footings on another side of the site as well. While these might just look like concrete spots in the ground, they are the essential underground supports that will eventually hold up the entire decking area. Basically, the "bones" of the project are now finished and secure.

With the structure done, we are now ready to switch gears. The next step is all about the pool surround. We will be smoothing and leveling the ground around the pool edge, getting everything perfectly prepped so we can start laying the tiles and paving. The visual transformation is about to begin. After weeks of preparation, we hit a major milestone: Spraying the Permanent Concrete Structure (Shotcrete).
The success of this week relied on precision. This is the critical layer that defines your pool’s strength and lifespan. Following the final sign-off on the steel framework, our crew was on site to apply the concrete under extreme pressure.

Why This Step Matters:
● Built to Last: We spray the concrete at high velocity. This removes air pockets and packs the material tight, creating a rock-solid foundation that can withstand ground movement and water weight for decades.
● Perfect Accuracy: Our supervisors remained on-site for quality control, confirming that the concrete thickness and shape matched the engineering plans down to the millimetre.
● The Difference: Applying Shotcrete is an art. We ensure a perfectly smooth surface now, which means a better finish and fewer corrections later.

The concrete is now curing, marking the end of the major structural work. Next week, we start preparing the deck footings to ensure a stable surround for your new pool.

We’ve powered through to a major milestone this week. The pool excavation is finalised, giving us the full perspective of the generous 9x5x1.9m design.

The key success this week, however, was the completion of the structural support system: the piers are fully installed, and the formwork is perfectly set. This foundational preparation is the bedrock of a high-quality pool, preventing future issues with movement or settlement.

Precision is our non-negotiable standard, particularly at this critical stage. We’ve worked closely with the builder, confirming every essential measurement to ensure the pool’s placement and levels align exactly with the approved plans. This detailed quality control is essential before the Certifier conducts the final sign-off on placement. Getting these critical dimensions wrong would necessitate a complete, costly, and time-consuming re-start, wasting weeks of progress.
The great news is that all the heavy structural lifting is done. With the piers and formwork complete and validated, we have prepared the canvas for the next step. We are excited to confirm that the site is fully ready for shotcrete next week, where the permanent concrete shell will be expertly applied by , transforming the framework into a lasting structure.

Surprises are simply a factor of life on a construction site. While we anticipate some deviations, the reality on the ground often dictates necessary adjustments.

This week, we encountered one of those moments. We had initially planned to retain existing sections of the boundary and house perimeter walls. However, the builder identified structural damages that made the old retaining not viable for the long term.

To guarantee the safety and structural integrity of the entire new outdoor area—including the heavy pool and cabana—the decision was made to demolish and completely replace these sections.

Coupled with existing site drainage problems, this required extra excavation to install the necessary new retaining and comprehensive drainage systems. These critical elements now form the solid foundation required to support the new outdoor lifestyle and ensure the longevity of the client's investment.
Working with a designer who provides on-site checks and advice during construction offers the client confidence that these necessary changes are simply part of the journey. We are focused on building it right, ensuring a durable finish.

Can you see the shape of the spa and pool?

This week, the project hit a major milestone: the pool digging has officially begun, and we're starting to see the shape of the 9x5 metre structure.
Before the first scoop of soil was removed, the accuracy had to be perfect. Builder Rod from Cove Pools and I spent significant time confirming spot levels, distances, and dimensions on site. Through multiple calls, emails, and on-site checks, we ensure the design is translated precisely onto the ground.

This precision is non-negotiable. While we work to get the setup right from the start, one of the final sign-offs for correct placement and levels is conducted by the Certifier. If these critical measurements were incorrect, the consequence would be severe—potentially requiring a complete backfill and re-excavation of the entire area. That kind of error can cost weeks and substantial budget.

By being meticulous about precision now, we are guaranteeing the structural integrity and aesthetic alignment of the final pool. Next week, we are moving into the exciting phase of shotcreting, forming up the permanent concrete shell
