Back yourself. That was my biggest takeaway from last night. 🙌💚

Such a great night at the .a.small.business meetup, with insightful conversations and so much good energy in the room!

Lovely to connect with Ruth Slade from She Rocks Digital and Gillian from Tasmanian Occasion Hampers, and hear the owners from share their business journey.

They didn’t start with a huge amount of cash. They thought outside the box, put their ideas into action, improvised along the way and made it happen.

It’s something I encourage in my own clients as an intuitive personal and business coach: trust yourself enough to take that next step.

We can spend so long being guided by what society tells us we “should” do that we lose touch with what we actually want. We second-guess our ideas, question our abilities and wait until we feel ready.

Sometimes confidence grows through taking action. Through trying, learning and discovering what you’re capable of along the way.

That’s exactly what I did. I backed myself, followed my passion and took that first step. And here I am, almost five years later! Still learning, still growing and supporting others to back themselves too.

If you have a dream, a passion, something that keeps nudging you… bloody go for it!

A Personal Share

For a long time, I thought keeping parts of myself hidden would help me belong.

Growing up in foster care, I was conscious of being different. My surname was different. I wanted to belong and feel chosen.

I wanted to be the good girl. To get things right. To be loved.

I learned to make jokes at my own expense. Everyone would laugh, and I would laugh too., even when the words I said about myself hurt.

It took me a long time to share my story. For years, I normalised so much of my childhood without recognising how it had shaped the way I saw myself.

Recently, I’ve been looking more honestly at how this still shows up - even in my business. The hesitation to put myself out there. Questioning myself. Wanting to find the perfect words before allowing myself to be seen.

I’m giving myself grace for that.

I learned to keep myself small because I desperately wanted to belong. I’m learning that I can be seen without having to earn my place.

A few years ago, I was guided by spirit to share my story. I’m beginning to honour that in my own time, with care for myself and the little girl who wanted so much to be accepted.

Perhaps you recognise something of yourself here.

I want you to know I see you.

You don’t have to keep making yourself small or hiding who you are. You deserve to be seen, heard and valued, just as you are.

I’m learning to let myself be seen, too.

I’m with you. Let’s do it together 💚
