This beautiful pair of Chinese carved spinach Jade water buffaloes, dating from the early to mid 20th century, showcases the elegance and symbolism of traditional Chinese artistry.

In Chinese culture, the water buffalo is traditionally associated with strength, prosperity, tranquility and agricultural abundance. Revered for its role in farming life, it also symbolises a peaceful connection with nature and the virtues or patience and perseverance.

Trained at London’s Royal College of Art and based in Western Australia since 1970, Douglas Chambers is celebrated for his richly symbolic paintings, where animals, human figures and elements of the natural world merge into dreamlike narratives.

Few names command the respect of collectors quite like Patek Philippe.

This rare Calatrava showcases the understated elegance for which the Swiss watchmaker is celebrated. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, it features a black dial with gold Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, an exhibition case back and the ultra-thin Calibre 240 PS automatic movement.

Offered complete with its original box, papers and leather wallet and presented in excellent used condition, this is a superb example of one of Patek Philippe’s most enduring designs.

Imagine the letters, ledgers, and correspondence once penned at this remarkable Georgian secretaire.

Crafted in richly figured mahogany and dating to circa 1810-1825, it features a fold-out writing surface enclosing a fitted interior of drawers and stationery compartments. Above, adjustable shelving provides generous storage for books and treasured objects, while the original brass lion-head handles add distinctive period detail.

A beautiful and practical antique, perfectly suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
