Last year I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Tasmanian Leaders Program 2024. Early in the program, I was confronted with the reality of my severe burnout, high stress levels and poor work-life balance. Something had to happen and I made a decision for my wellbeing and my mental health stepping down from my GM role.
Instead of getting the support I was promised, I was made redundant.
Despite the outcome, I don't regret for a split second the decision I made on that cold winter morning.
This transformative experience and the support of my family and friends, and my colleagues at TLP helped me immensely.
It led to my business venture -Thriving Tasmania-, offering business services to Tourism and Hospitality operators and accommodation venues across the State.
I am adding value to my clients, giving them the care and service they deserve. I have prioritise quality over quantity and I am trully making a difference to my clients while crafting great experiences for our visitors.
I couldn't start this chapter in my career in a better way. I was honured and humbled by choosen as the valedictorian of my cohort. A priviledge, I took upon with great responsibility.
Saturday's graduation ceremony and valedictorian speech, was not just about leadership, it was about growth, respect, empathy and the future. Regaining my voice, seeing my own worth and remaining true to my values.
Thank you to my husband Hector Yarce for enduring a transformative year with me , to TLP18, Angela Driver and the entire Tasmanian Leaders program Tasmanian Leaders Network - Alumni
