At home newborn sessions are one of my favourite things to photograph.

Over the 14 years I’ve been photographing newborns, I’ve learnt a few things along the way.

💛 it is one of the most special times in a families life. These are moments you will treasure forever.
💛 your family is perfect.
💛 older siblings make the session a complete unknown and I love it.
💛 taking time to listen and giving new mums space to share and talk is such an important part of the process. It helps them process, feel heard, know that everything they feel is valid and normal, and heal.
💛every home tells a story and it’s a privilege to be invited into this space.

Female participation in sport is such a cornerstone of my being. When I think back to the reasons I felt confident enough to sign up to my first marathon and later, my first ultra, was because I SAW other women, like me, not elite, out there doing it to.

You have to SEE it to BELIEVE it.

These women are out there, bringing grit, heart, support and courage, even when they are doubting themselves. They show up when its hard, juggle all the aspects of their lives and still make it to the start time of these epic adventures and they support and push each other to be their best they can be.

To me, these aren’t just images, they are epic stories of women in amazing places that inspire me to keep going. They are proof of resilience and of learning about yourself in the dark places when no one is watching.

My dream is knowing that sharing these inspires someone to push themselves beyond their comfort zone and try something new and hard.

POWERHOUSE

Yesterday I was lucky enough to photograph two (well, actually LOTS, but for the sake of this post...) incredible women Deborah Hutton & Sophie Tedmanson at this months Collabor8Women event.

The discussion was open, vulnerable and spoke to the importance of values, which I know every woman in the room felt connected to and appreciated the reminder.

Headshots aren’t complicated, they aren’t only for the CEO and they are fun.

This client smashed out 4 outfit changes and got almost 40 images, all different, in 15 mins. They were shot at her home. I had a cup of tea, it was awesome.

Keep it simple, keep it real.
