Dust off the clubs. Sharpen up the excuses. The world famous W**e Run is back 🍷

It's been running for more years than anyone can properly remember, and it's still the best thing about daylight savings. Nine holes, then a BBQ, every Friday arvo.

$20. Rock up any time after 1:30pm. No booking, no membership, no fuss.

Haven't got a handicap? Our friendly starters will sort one out for you on the spot. Whether it's an honest one is between you and your conscience 😏

Then it's nine holes of your finest work, followed by a snag and a drink while everyone explains how they got robbed on the 7th.

Emma Shaw | General Manager & w**emaker, Collector W**es | 2026 LET Scholar

Emma is General Manager and one of the w**emaking team at Collector W**es in the Canberra District. Emma worked for ten years in federal government public policy and project management before deciding the w**e industry had it all; soon after she commenced a Bachelor of W**e Science (CSU) to complement a Master of Business (ANU) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (Sydney).

Emma has worked vintages in the Napa and Barossa Valleys, was the ASVO recipient of the Advanced W**e Assessment Course in 2023, and regularly hosts masterclasses, w**e appreciation and more.

It's a deep skill set to be able to incisively assess and persuasively communicate the essence of a w**e, and Emma is looking forward to learning more of these skills from tutors and fellow scholars alike at the Tutorial.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Collector W**es tasting evening! 🍷🥂

It was a great night. The Collector W**es team took us through a fantastic selection from their range, and there were plenty of good conversations over a glass or two. 🙌

The crowd favourites were clear:
🍷 Riesling: the standout of the night, and it went quickly
🍷 Rosé: fresh and easy drinking, just right for the warmer weather coming ☀️
🍷 Shiraz: a proper Canberra District red, and a big hit with the reds crowd

This is just the start. 🍇 We're planning to make these tastings a quarterly event, with seasonal w**es brought in through the year. That means something new each time and another chance to taste the best of the Canberra region without leaving the clubhouse.

The last lingering days of autumn mark the end of the 2025-26 season.

In spring last year we experienced some scattered frosts across the regions we are working in - the Canberra District, Hilltops, Gundagai and Tumbarumba - and this has meant yields for some vineyards were lower than in previous years. However, the quality of each parcel we've been working with is a bright spot: the whites retain that signature cool-climate freshness. The reds, coming through primary fermentation, exhibit a pleasing depth and structure already, perhaps in part thanks to a slightly smaller average berry size this season.

Intermittent late summer rain kept us on our toes, but we were fortunate to be able to execute the few earlier harvests at just the right time, before summer gave way to a warm, dry autumn and clear picking conditions across the Canberra District.

We are looking forward to sharing our 2026 w**es with you, at the right time.

A Top W**ery of Australia.

It is always an honour - and one we don't take for granted - to be represented in The Real Review's round up of the best w**eries in Australia. Thank you, , and congratulations to our Canberra District colleagues who were also recognised!

This year marks 21 years since Alex released the very first Marked Tree Red Shiraz and Collector W**es was born... moments such as this remind us of the journey so far, and the exciting moments ahead.

We harvested the Jim's Picnic Riesling 2026 last weekend on another beautiful morning in the Canberra District.

Vintage 2026 is ticking along at a gentle, even pace, much like our ferments, including the Shoreline Rosé in tank and the Tiger Tiger Chardonnay in barrel. "Recent rain has slightly extended the ripening season," Alex says, "but the past few days of warmth and sun are coaxing our reds along to full phenolic ripeness.

"Overall, it's a vintage in which we're seeing lower yields, but great concentration of flavour and typicity in the w**es so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing the essence of this vintage fully reveal itself over the next few weeks."

✨️ The 21st vintage of the Marked Tree Red. ✨️

This week, we release the Marked Tree Red Shiraz 2024.

"What a beautiful shiraz. Everything just so; it’s perfectly poised and immediately appealing, although it will age gracefully if you can wait... Silky tannins sashay across the medium-bodied palate and, with the lithe acidity, the finish is long and lingering," writes Jane Faulkner in the **ecompanion.

While Huon Hooke writes in , "A really stylish shiraz and remarkable value."

A sister w**e to Alex's first release under the Collector label, the Marked Tree Red Shiraz 2005. That first vintage, of course, went on to win NSW W**e of the Year in 2007, before the 2005, 2009 and 2025 Marked Tree Red Shirazes took home the Red W**e of Provenance Trophy at the National W**e Show in 2016. The common thread of place, and the suitability of shiraz for our cool-climate region, runs across the vintages, and it's a delight to share the 2024 with you now.
