For the first time in a long time, I am taking a break. On my own, away from home. No meals to cook, no washing, no dishes, no kids activities, don’t care what anyone eats for dinner or how many Easter eggs they’re scoffing down.

Instead it’s books to read, journals to write, cards to shuffle, endless cups of tea, and navel gazing with the Full Moon.

Doctors should be prescribing this stuff, it’s recuperation magic ✨🍵📚📝

I am taking some time out from readings for the next few weeks, as I spend time cherishing some of my most wonderful childhood memories, and grieve for the painful ending to her life and a loss that feels vaster with each day.

🌑 Solar eclipse in Aquarius exact here in Queensland tomorrow at 11:01pm

✨ Astrologer Judith Hill writes Aquarius eclipses "are productive of events effecting presidents, dictators, governments. Great men and women appear on the scene, or depart. Dictators come and go. Huge government changes and/or political party shifts are expected. These can be very political eclipses."

I think the effects of this eclipse upon world leaders are magnified by the current conjunction of Saturn and Neptune which has certainly brought revolutions and political upheavals in the past, and its effects (like all eclipse effects) will last for a few more weeks. Personally I anticipate the transit of Mars, once it reaches the eclipse point of 28 degrees Aquarius around 28th February to really stir things up.

Regardless of what it brings to political leaders, global power struggles or the stock market though, them dishes still need to be done 😆 In other words, keeping grounded, not getting caught up in chaos drama, taking care of your immediate home environment and connecting with very close friends or family is a great antidote for instability and erratic behaviour that gets amplified at this time. Those with nervous temperaments really need to apply extra time towards calming practices and get away from screens and electromagnetic fields.

Finally - I'm anticipating some epic lightning storms over the rest of this month, for us here in the tropics it's already been building up nicely over the past couple of weeks ⛈️⚡

My herbal medicine journey is focused on local herbs and weeds that I can either grow easily or wild harvest. I have been getting to know Blackberry nightshade for a while now, though only recently started working more purposefully with her.

Today I decided to harvest some ripe berries for tincturing, and I can't stop admiring this magical shade of purple. I am really not sure what I will do with this as of yet - like most of my herbal medicine journeys, this one is also organic, fluid, open to exploration and mostly just for enjoyment and wonder at how much help and abundance with are surrounded with.

A single offering graces my altar for the New Moon in Capricorn, but I grew this myself, and that’s a success here in the tropics: wheat.

Yes it’s a small harvest, but it carries all my energy and thus it means more than anything else I could buy.

And I can’t think of any other plant that carries such ancestral connection as much as wheat does.

✨ New Moon in Capricorn this Monday 19 January, 06:52am Queensland time

🌱 The Moon and the Sun are closely joined by Mercury (communication, trade and innovation) and Mars (initiative, drive, and competition) all in the pragmatic and responsible sign of Capricorn: basically it’s a time to plan, strategise and get real about how you will get sh*t done. Being a New Moon, we’re planting seeds to nurture and grow as the Moon waxes, but this energy combination is very helpful in supporting plans that are, above all, achievable and realistic (as only a Capricorn would do!)

I think it is important to note that this stellium (Sun-Moon-Mercury-Mars) is forming a nice trine aspect with Uranus, planet of change, revolution, innovation, and originality: in other words, whatever plans you make, strive for something new, unique, original or that breaks from the status quo. This is not usually Capricorn’s domain, who would rather stick with established structures and hierarchies, but if there was a time to start something new and exciting, this is it.

🌸 My hand drawn vision board for 2026: in an ideal world, this would be 100% of my time (though I would like to emphasise I do not wear crocs 100% of the time, but on occasion I forget and wonder out of the house in my best dress with those ugly abominations on my feet).

I deliberately put "Personal Down Time" at the base, as this is the foundation that ensures everything else gets done. It is most "unproductive" in terms of achieving something that is measurable as our culture has come to measure just about everything in life. Yet it underpins my mental, emotional and spiritual health, the "roots" of a healthy life.

Also: this image and post, like all my content, is 100% free of AI. Because I like, and I value, human creativity no matter how simple, naïve or childish it may seem. If anything, may we all find and nurture our own creative inner child in 2026...
.. and raise a big middle finger to sterile consumer culture, corporate driven food systems that place profit over sustainable growing practices and affordable healthy produce, the commodification of every living plant right down to its genome, and the proliferation of influencer personality cults and politicians that serve the rich and shaft the common person ✨

Whoa, what a seismic shift in energy, personal boundaries and transformation this pivotal time known as menopause is. I'm only just starting out on the journey and have a few more years to go, but already it is the most empowering time in my life. The veil of illusion lifts, and what no longer serves is removed; what is detrimental is swiftly cut off; and what is empowering is embraced like a nourishing, hearty broth.

This spread was inspired by an amazing video titled "Menopause: the truth they don't want you to know" by Katherine Betteridge. I will link in the comments for those interested (HIGHLY recommend it), as well as my own reading with this spread.
