We would love to restore the flag pole (which was broken off before I bought it) but wooden flag poles are very expensive. Have bought an Autralian made fully sewn flag in the hope of doing so one day!

Interesting interview with Richard Stringer, who photgraphs historical architecture and photographed Bellevue Homestead when it was owned by the National Trust. Among other things, he talks about his sadness that developers have been allowed to destroy unique architecture in a country where we have space to build elsewhere but commercial greed is rife 'loaction, location,location'!'

Richard Stringer is one of Queensland’s most important photographers. He has created an exemplary historical photographic record covering a span of more than 50 years. ⁣ ⁣ Many of his works are held at the State Library of Queensland, as well as at other Australian cultural institutions. ⁣ ....

National Boys Choir of Australia presented by the Esk Community Choir

The National Boys Choir of Australia will treat the Somerset region to an outstanding live performance in Esk this July as part of its Queensland tour for the Pemulwuy National Male Voice Festival. Presented by the Esk Community Choir, this special morning concert promises musical excellence that will appeal to all ages.

Featuring the NBCA Performing Choir and Young Men’s Choir, the performance will showcase a rich and varied repertoire including classical, folk and popular songs. The choir is celebrated for its outstanding musicianship, vibrant energy and inspiring performances both nationally and internationally.

Held at the Somerset Civic Centre on Monday 6 July 2026 from 10:30am to 12:00pm, this free community concert offers a wonderful opportunity to experience one of Australia’s finest choral ensembles performing live in the Somerset region. A small donation at the door would be warmly appreciated.
