Scammers are targeting Australians with advertisements for 'free' tai chi classes to trick them into downloading malware capable of stealing money off their devices.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a nationwide alert for the scam.

Scamwatch has received an uptick of reports about this type of scam, with people reporting losses of $5,000 on average.

🚨 Beware of Microsoft Technical Support Scams! 🚨

Scammers often impersonate Microsoft support representatives, claiming there's an issue with your computer or internet connection. If you receive a phone call claiming to be from Microsoft or see a pop-up warning on your PC with a fake warning message and a phone number to call, do not click any links, call the number or provide any personal information.

How to Protect Yourself:
🛡️ Be Sceptical, Microsoft will never contact you out of the blue to offer technical support.
🛡️ Never share your personal or financial information to unsolicited callers.
🛡️ Do not grant remote access to your computer to anyone you don't know or trust.
🛡️ If you receive a suspicious call or email, hang up or delete the message, then contact Microsoft directly.

If You Suspect a Scam:
✔️ Report the scam to Microsoft Immediately.
✔️ Change your accounts' passwords and monitor your accounts for any unusual activity.

🚨 PSA 🚨

Be careful purchasing Mobile device handsets online through Facebook Marketplace place ..
Over the past few weeks we’ve had several devices come in store that are I.P banned with Snapchat ..

People are on-selling these devices to unsuspecting people ( we’ve even had a few attempt to sell to us in store)

Our advice if purchasing a second hand phone 📱

1. fully set up and activate the device the prior to purchase ,

2. Download/install Snapchat and attempt to log in to your account

If you’re unsuccessful please DO NOT purchase the handset as Snapchat will not remove the device from their Blacklist no matter how much you try to persuade them..
