1969 Corvette Stingray

Design by Dave Slater, with instructions purchased from Brickvault toys.

100% Sourced with 2nd hand parts from

50 studs long, 16 studs wide, 12 bricks tall.

Awesome build experience using amazing snot and hinge based techniques to recreate the iconic shapes and curves.

Changes made to original instructions due to part availability, in particular the doors and Roof pillars as well as front fender/ bonnet shaping.

Batmobile 89 MOC

Very close to being finished, some detail in the cockpit and final tweaking of shaping at rear.

72 studs from front spoiler to rear tip of bat wings. 22 wide at front wheels and 24 wide at rear wheels. Weighs over 2 kgs so piece count is..... a lot!

Just part of my Batmobile obsession. Goes well with the Tumbler, my ‘66 MOC and UCS 7784.

Model Team Giant Truck “ Black Cat” #5571

For a set designed and produced in the 90’s with elements available at that time, this build has amazing features and attention to detail.

Sourced entirely from 2nd hand parts from BrickResales, this build is close to 95% original from the instructions. The main changes are that the doors to the cab are brickbuilt, being very rare and expensive to source, the tyres are a touch smaller than the originals by a few millimetres with the rear wheels all being doubles instead of singles to give the truck a more realistic look. Chrome elements have been replaced with similar light grey parts.

For the cost of a small car this can be sourced new from Bricklink or you can do as I have done and go for a close to original version with some minor cosmetic changes for ALOT less.

An awesome build. At one time this set held the Lego record for most elements in a set.

BrickResales Tamworth Lego Event

Some of the designs and builds showcased by Planet Brick Designs at the recent Lego event organised by Brickresales at Carinya Christian School in Tamworth, NSW on Tues 10th & Wed 11th July.

An amazing time was had by all with the staff at the school providing awesome support to the hard working Brickresales team, Judy, Greg, Peter, Francis, Aaron, Allira, Jacob, Milli & Eli along with head of security Baxter ( woof woof).

Over 600kg of Lego was available for sale through the unique process of picking the exact Lego elements you want from the multitude of plastic containers of colour sorted and random parts. A few pics also of creative builds designed on the day by the happy entrants to the event that included a Tardis from Dr Who and a large scale Zombie head from Minecraft.

Members from Brisbricks in Brisbane and Rainbow Bricks on the Central Coast attended and displayed their MOC’s ( My Own Creations) to the delight of all those that attended, in particular Peter whose train display enthralled kids and adults alike.

A mosaic of the Carinya Christian Schools logo was created and donated to the school as a small Thankyou for the invitation and opportunity to be involved in the event.

Baja Bug Off Road Racer

MOC modelled off the Volkswagen Beetle 10187 Lego produced set. Started by using the plated chassis from the original set then free built the Baja inspired features.

Working suspension at each corner, roll bar and spotties on front windscreen top ( um... why is there wipers with no glass 😜) and cage enclosed purpose built performance engine.

I closely followed the desert racing scene as a teen, with the magazine “ dune buggies and VWs bought every month way back when and with all that research in my brain this design came very easily.

Follow the pics to the very end with a shot of all the large beetles together.

Volkswagen Beetle 10187 alternate colour build

What do you do when you have too much blue in your parts bins? Well... you build a Beetle of course!

Built prior to sourcing the original Lego produced set in previous post, some minor cosmetic changes due to part availability, most notably the brick built wheel arches in inverted slopes and the free style interior in light grey.

Volkswagen Beetle 10187

Large scale with vintage Lego studs up sculpture design technique. The dark/ light blue contrasts give this huge model a traditional beetle look.

The size gives the opportunity for detailed engine and interior touches. Received this as part of a bulk lot, unknown at the time of purchase but when the amount of dark blue and the white rims were found I knew I’d hit the jackpot.

Lego Beetle 10252

The most recent of the Creator Expert VW series. In a distinct light blue colour the Lego Beetle invokes a feeling of the road trip to the beach.

With esky and surfboard atop the curved sculpting of the roof it really feels like your on the way to the seashore. A excellent interpretation of the humble bug.

Lego T1 Kombi Camper 10220

Lego Expert Creator Kombi camper set. I must admit to a small obsession with this vehicle.... never owned one but have loved it for years and was super excited when Lego released this, so much in fact that I waited for over a year to get it and due to budgetary constraints I ended up swapping it for a Bundaberg Rum mosaic logo sign with a fellow Lego club member( I’m looking at you Steve.... but I digress, that’s a story for another day).

Packed with intricate details of a camper from its era, a breathtaking design that does the classic T1 justice in Lego form.

Mini Cooper 10242

One of the most fun cars to drive, giving the illusion of go-cart like speed due to the low seating position.

Modelled in British Racing Green with white stripe and roof gives this an elegant reference to the original Mini Cooper.

Packed with detail and a blast to build, a very welcome addition in the Creator Expert vehicle series.
