On International Day for Biological Diversity, we reflect on the abundance of flora and fauna found here in The Margaret River Region

🌳 Australia's South West is one of the internationally recognised biodiversity hotspots in the world. The area has the highest concentration of rare and endangered species on the continent.

🍇 As a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Passel Estate is committed to producing small volumes of high-quality single-vineyard wine in an environmentally sustainable way, and we're just as passionate about preserving the property’s natural bushland areas to protect the ecological diversity and species richness here.

🌿 Passel Estate owners, Wendy and Barry Stimpson, continue to invest in conservation initiatives to enhance the biodiversity of our bushland wildlife sanctuary, which is home to a family (passel) of critically endangered Western Ringtail Possums.

🌳Wendy and Barry will plant hundreds more native tube stocks alongside local volunteers in our wildlife sanctuary next week. These plants will provide habitat and food for the many species of fauna found here.

You may consider us biased, but we firmly believe that this Chardonnay, currently on pour in the tasting room, is absolutely exquisite.

The critics agreed with us! Our 2023 Chardonnay received a SILVER medal and 94 points in International Wine & Spirit Competition - IWSC; and garnered this tantalising 91-point review from Stuart Knox for The Real Review:

"Pale lemon in colour".

🐝Happy World Bee Day!

Today we celebrate the important role bees play in our sustainable vineyard ecosystem here at Passel Estate.

Bees pollinate our cover crops, which are vital for improving soil health and biodiversity in the vineyard, thus ensuring healthy vines. When you visit Passel Estate, you may notice that bee hives have been strategically placed close to the vineyards.

The honey is hand harvested and sold in our Tasting Room to raise funds for ongoing conservation efforts at the estate, such as revegetating bushland areas to improve the habitat for Western Ringtail Possums and other species of fauna found here on the property.

Today we commemorate Endangered Species Day and invite you to join our conservation planting morning on Tuesday, 26th May 2026.

🐾We have been a sanctuary for the critically endangered Western Ringtail possum from the very beginning here at Passel Estate, since owners Wendy and Barry purchased the land that now comprises the estate. The passel of possums rehabilitated on the property even inspired our wine label.

Endangered Species Day is a reminder that so many incredible creatures are at risk of going extinct. Currently, there are more than 172,600 species on The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, with more than 48,600 species of fungi, algae, plants, and animals that might disappear from our planet forever. Among them are our beloved Western Ringtail Possums, as well as other native species found at Passel Estate.

Did you know that when you book a guided tasting experience at Passel Estate, a sizeable portion of the proceeds of each booking goes directly towards the nature and wildlife conservation program at the Estate?

🌱 We are also grateful to local volunteers who regularly assist with our native planting day each year and to Nature Conservation Margaret River Region for the ongoing support they provide.

Please get in touch if you would like to assist in revegetating our bushland wildlife sanctuary alongside Passel Estate owners, Wendy and Barry. Volunteers will be rewarded with a light lunch and a glass of Passel Estate wine.

We are hiring a Tasting Room Venue Supervisor!

If you share our passion for fine wine and native wildlife conservation, and would love to join our team in Margaret River, read on!

We are seeking an experienced cellar door salesperson to help manage our tasting room venue and operations, and deliver Passel Estate’s guided tastings, immersive experiences and wine events.

It is a hands-on position requiring operational excellence, warm hospitality, attention to detail and sales skills.

It is a permanent or permanent part-time position offering superannuation and leave entitlements. Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications. Training and development opportunities will be provided.

RSA certification is essential and you will be required to obtain Approved Manager certification. Applicants must hold full working rights in Australia.
