The Australian Top 100 - 2024 Vermentino

"Nick and Sarah James-Martin both had extensive careers in multiple facets of the wine business before taking a huge leap of faith and establishing their own label. Their back labels declare Nick to be “The Maker” and Sarah to be “The Master” and that sensible dynamic worked beautifully for them. This tightly textured, finely detailed and especially vibrant Vermentino is testament to their teamwork. Sarah was tragically killed in an accident late last month. This is just one strand of her large legacy. 95 points"

Our 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon picked up Gold at the 2025 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards today. Little guys in the big city - a proud moment for our gentle winemaking, that's true to texture.

Great to be recognised, and against some of the big guns too. This follows on from last year's Gold + Trophy win for our 2023 Cabernet Franc Thanks Melbourne Royal.

We lost the better half of Wines of Merritt last weekend in a tragic car accident just north of Margaret River. Sarah was the voice of reason in our life and business, the brilliant creator of MERRITT Distilling Oceanic Gin and much enjoyed our Margaret River Farmers' Market stall.

The proud Mum of George and Ami, her devotion to them and their pursuit of soccer glory with Football Margaret River, regional LNJSA & WA country and the countless k's getting them to games & training was amazing. We will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers you can support her memory by enjoying a glass of her Oceanic Gin.

There will be a celebration of her life for family, friends & colleagues on Wednesday 12th November at the Wine Chapel, Howard Park at 1pm and in Adelaide on December 16th. Details to follow.
